Man that was a weird USA team. If you gave out the highest levels by player performance it would look like something like this:
Durant

Holiday

Draymond
Then the rest of the guys who got minutes. I don't think they medal if Holiday didn't decide to play after winning the title: none of the other guards could defend worth shit

I would add Bam Adeybao next to Draymond. I thought he did a great job doing the little things. Between Jrue, Bam, and Dray they had three guys who were willing to do that and not just play hero ball (looking at you Tatum and Booker)

A lot of these teams they face, have had the same roster for 10-12 years straight with a few younger elite players joining. The chemsitry and knowledge of how to play together is ingrained and innate.

This US team had KD and then basically a bunch of first timers and fill ins. Many of the best vet and in their prime players werent a part of the team(Bron, Stephen, Kyrie, AD, Klay, Kawhi, Butler, Beal, PG13, CP3)

Of course it was going to take time and look sloppy. And under the microscope of “if you lose any games at all, eveybody is ready to shit all over you and say the US is falling off or doesn’t care.”

So much elite talent coming up from all over the world now but the reality is, if you gave every country a year off from all the pro leagues to train and bond exclusively for the olympics, the US could field two teams that would beat any other country and win gold.

I also think it shows how rapidly the world is catching up. I mean a team with Luka, Goran Dragic's lil bro, and Victor Claver nearly made the gold medal game. Til Zion fully ascends, all the young rising superstars in the NBA aren't American...

Is it just me or is that statue creepy? I never thought the Fonz would look like a creepy pedophile who was trying to look cool.

Fixed

Watching Kyrie light it up in the Worlds (I think) that one year, winning MVP, was special. Just thought I'd add that here.

Saw all the games and i knew this team was winning after beating Spain. KD is just too much and those years in Golden State taught him how to get others involved while still eating. He’s also great at knowing WHEN to score. Him and LeBron are the best in today’s game at that. Guys like Devin Booker and Dame don’t really have timing on when to get aggressive. They just bash your head in all game and teammates rhythm is sacrificed. KD and Bron know exactly when to try and get a bucket. That France game showed that part of KDs game.
My favorite players of the tourney were KD, Jrue, and Booker. If i had to name a non KD MVP it’d be Jrue 100%. When he got there it was basically a wrap. His defense was insane
