Yes. They had a 7 year stretch that included home and home with Texas, USC and Miami. The Miami series was scheduled not long after the 2002 title game when Miami was still considered elite. The Cal series was schedule back when Cal was the 2nd best Pac10 team behind USC. The one year inbetween, OSU went to Washington.

The have futures with Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. The rest of the of the OOC usually concludes MAC teams which fills the AD's coffers.

They've played games against USC, Miami, and Texas. UCF was actually projected to be a bowl team this season, had they not gotten a 1-year postseason ban for recruiting violations. Cal was up until recently the second best team in the PAC-10 and they almost won on Saturday. They've got another game against Cal coming up, along with games against Virginia Tech and UC. They've also got games in the future against UNC and Oklahoma.

Every good program plays against cupcake teams, not just Ohio State, not to mention the fact that they've got a tough conference schedule ahead of them when they play MSU, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois and Purdue (who always seem to give them fits), and Nebraska this year (although they will go another 4 years without playing Nebraska starting in 2013).
