i haven't posted in awhile, just reading and watching the all the rumors/reality.
1. was the allen/redd stuff just to get seattle/milw to sign max contracts eating up their cap space. lebron sent videos and didn't show up to dinner with redd and who knows what he DIDN'T do to attract allen. with hughes ability to play defense it fits coach brown's system better. washington fan has said on the boards that hughes is a better shooter than we see in his stats. he was shooting 35% from three land before he broke a finger (some hand injury) and shot 35% the year before.
2. seattle was looking at z and milw had some interest too. maybe it just helped us limit z's salary to a decent range. if we did get allen or redd i think they might have gone a different direction in the middle, maybe curry or jerome james. remember golden state signed adonal foyle to a contract close to 10 mill per year and he was a bum. 10 mill per for a starting center is not crazy numbers.
3. we heard haslem's name before ferry even showed up. so is ferry just working with werkstein's (i think that's his name) plan anyways.
4. if we did sign haslem a gooden deal would have to be in place already. is it the clippers and did we already have and eye on wilcox or jaric. to much groundwork had to be laid out for ferry to come in and start dealing. that trade would satisfy backup center and point needs. who needs a power forward or needs the cap space next year that would deal a 1st rounder also. i was thinking maybe the suns. gooden can run and does have talent. maybe we snag barbosa and a first rounder or barbosa/voskel. just a thought. barbosa is a point with 2 to 3 years exp. and is from brazil.
5. even though saras has been reported to want a 3 yr / 10 mill total contract, i have seen where he saw that many teams have the mle and thought that might be more in line with what he should get paid (and might get paid). so the haslem signing with the gooden first rounder trade would free up about 4.1 mill from gooden's contract and might satisfy saras's idea of his worth. he could be a bust in the nba too.
personally i don't like the damon jones idea. i know he can shoot the three but he really doesn't look great with the ball in his hands and is more of a shooting guard who handles the ball. he got eaten up by billips and looked lost. hopefully the haslem deal is not leading the heat to sign him so we can sign jones. bad idea, imo
if we went with the defensive idea that was stated in press conferences that would point to a. daniels the most. he shot pretty well from outside without a post presense. if drew was traded i think antonio could deal with a 5 yr contract starting at 4.1 and escalating.
just my takes. go ahead and blast away.
