i haven't posted in awhile, just reading and watching the all the rumors/reality.

1. was the allen/redd stuff just to get seattle/milw to sign max contracts eating up their cap space. lebron sent videos and didn't show up to dinner with redd and who knows what he DIDN'T do to attract allen. with hughes ability to play defense it fits coach brown's system better. washington fan has said on the boards that hughes is a better shooter than we see in his stats. he was shooting 35% from three land before he broke a finger (some hand injury) and shot 35% the year before.

2. seattle was looking at z and milw had some interest too. maybe it just helped us limit z's salary to a decent range. if we did get allen or redd i think they might have gone a different direction in the middle, maybe curry or jerome james. remember golden state signed adonal foyle to a contract close to 10 mill per year and he was a bum. 10 mill per for a starting center is not crazy numbers.

3. we heard haslem's name before ferry even showed up. so is ferry just working with werkstein's (i think that's his name) plan anyways.

4. if we did sign haslem a gooden deal would have to be in place already. is it the clippers and did we already have and eye on wilcox or jaric. to much groundwork had to be laid out for ferry to come in and start dealing. that trade would satisfy backup center and point needs. who needs a power forward or needs the cap space next year that would deal a 1st rounder also. i was thinking maybe the suns. gooden can run and does have talent. maybe we snag barbosa and a first rounder or barbosa/voskel. just a thought. barbosa is a point with 2 to 3 years exp. and is from brazil.

5. even though saras has been reported to want a 3 yr / 10 mill total contract, i have seen where he saw that many teams have the mle and thought that might be more in line with what he should get paid (and might get paid). so the haslem signing with the gooden first rounder trade would free up about 4.1 mill from gooden's contract and might satisfy saras's idea of his worth. he could be a bust in the nba too.

personally i don't like the damon jones idea. i know he can shoot the three but he really doesn't look great with the ball in his hands and is more of a shooting guard who handles the ball. he got eaten up by billips and looked lost. hopefully the haslem deal is not leading the heat to sign him so we can sign jones. bad idea, imo

if we went with the defensive idea that was stated in press conferences that would point to a. daniels the most. he shot pretty well from outside without a post presense. if drew was traded i think antonio could deal with a 5 yr contract starting at 4.1 and escalating.

just my takes. go ahead and blast away.

Nice post.. good thoughts. Getting Saras and Haslem with Z and LHughes would be fine with me.

I still think we need to deal Luke or Sasha, in my opinion Sasha will be better, luke seemed lost out there a lot and sasha is more athletic younger more nba experience and that pure serbian 3 point shot. Deal Luke and Drew for a really good Defensive minded PF like Chandler and we are set. We don't need sasha and luke splitting backup minutes behind hughes and lebron cuz there won't be enough to split.

The cavs won't trade luke or sasha yet until one has proven to be better than the other. One will eventually have to go, but you can't take nothing from last season of luke's play as it wasn't the real luke jackson. In the beginning of the year even with his injury luke looked just as good as sasha and AV, and that was when he was injured.

yep- no way we trade luke before we know what we have. the kid can play, and we would be kicking ourselves in the ass hard if he turned out to be pretty damn good..
even if he turned out to be a non star (dan majerle, jeff hornacek like ? ) i still wouldn't trade him.
i don't want to trade sasha either.. i like the idea of a deep team, sort of like indiana, when they had reggie, ron, steve-jax and james jones.

on the other hand "mr newble, the exit door is right over here"

Trading Luke right now would be extremely dumb, especially to a division rival. No way that Ferry would do anything like that. And Indy likes Artest anyway - the guy is a great player no matter how many dumb things he may do. He will be hungry to return to the court this year and they know it. How do these rumors get started???

The only reason I say trade luke or sasha is cuz newble is here and he is immovable because we felt teh urge to give him 5 mill a year....wtf..paxson..

I disagree. I think that Luke has much more potential in this league. Sasha seems like a dime in a dozen. He has a good spot-up shot, but can't create his own. He drives to the hole a lot, but doesn't go up strong enough. Shows some defensive intensity, but not all the time. Didn't show that great a handle or passing skills. Apparently he also has a me-first attitude, according to his hoopshype profile.

Luke, on the other hand, has showcased his potential and skill from his days in Oregon and now in the summer leagues. Leadership skills. Great passing/court vision. Must have decent handling if he's the point-forward. Fantastic shot, sometimes can create his own. And it seems his defense is improving, seeing from the summer league.

I just see Luke as a solid starter, potential All-star, with Sasha being more of a role player.

Stats:
Luke 16-6-6 with a steal
Sasha 18-6-2, with 1-2 steals

If Paxon was in instead of Ferry, I would think that Zydrunas wouldn't have been signed. I would think we would have not ended up with Larry Hughes and would have probably gotten Cuttino Mobley or some sort of mediocre shooting guard.

If Paxson were here?

We'd sign Eddy Curry to the max.
We'd sign Bobby Simmons to a 65 million contract.
We'd probably still have Jiri Welsch.
And most likely have traded Luke Jackson away for a late first rounder/early 2nd rounder, i.e. not his value at all.
And get Antonio Daniels with the rest of the cap space, to a 5 year contract.

So, we'd be cap-strapped with a bunch of bums. Go Jimmy!

Thank goodness we have Ferry.

c'mon now.... lets give him the benefit of the doubt.. he would have traded away are remaining draft picks up until 2015 as well..

he was well on his way to sinking our ship...
