WEDGE NAMED AL MANAGER OF THE YEAR
For the second day in a row, the Indians organization was honored with a national award when, on Wednesday, manager Eric Wedge was named the AL Manager of the Year.

Following a disappointing 2006 in which the Tribe slipped to fourth place (78-84), Wedge guided the Indians back to the playoffs this season for the first time since 2001. The Indians won a league-high 96 games in 2007 despite losing an entire series to an April snowstorm, having to play a "home" series in Milwaukee and a later playing a home makeup game in Seattle.

Wedge also guided his team through multiple injuries and ineffectiveness in its rotation - Jeremy Sowers, Cliff Lee and Jake Westbrook (for a large part of the season) and rebuilt the bullpen in-season with the addition of two key rookie hurlers, Jensen Lewis and Rafael Perez.
