Welcome 8th Pick from Brooklyn

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

Meaningless poll, but lets play....where will the pick end up after the lottery?

I actually prefer Michael Porter Jr to Bagley
Porter just looks like someone who will struggle to create his own shot at the NBA level. Looks a tad slow. He may have more upside, but Bagley impacts the team right away for the remainder of LeBrons career.

I'm giving it like a 60% chance that we trade it. We could get a young star for it that could play with Lebron or build around if he leaves.

This is the way I'm starting to lean -- if we can get a guy with ~3 years left on his deal, and <~25 years old - then we can simultaneously make the team better this year while also protecting ourselves if LBJ leaves.

Having another talented piece that can help this year might also persuade Lebron to stay, more than a future draft pick. Remember LBJ has never really liked playing with rookies.

Some possible trade targets (not advocating for any in particular):

Porzingis
Drummond
Middleton (?)
Gary Harris (RFA)
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

there are probably like a dozen more that I'm not thinking of here.

If they trade the unprotected Brooklyn pick for Drummond, Middleton, Gary fucking Harris, or MKG, Koby Altman should be paraded through Cleveland and egged by every Cavs fan in existence.

I'm not advocating for any of those players in particular.

But remember - the Cavs preferred both Brown and Tatum to the Brooklyn pick. They'd probably also trade the pick for a Josh Jackson in a heartbeat, or for a number of similar young players.

They also were apparently considering Middleton + Brogdon + crap first for Irving.

Some people here are dreaming about the Brooklyn pick netting AD or KAT or a million other insane scenarios -- it's value around the league might be much closer to a Drummond or Middleton.

That, of course, will fluctuate based on how Brooklyn plays this year. Is that a risk we want to take?

Yeah...this isn't true, nor is the Milwaukee stuff, and we've heard that from elsewhere on the forum, which I won't get in to.

The Brooklyn pick literally just headlined a trade that netted the team who moved it a super star...yet people say people are dreaming of flipping it for exactly what it just landed Boston?

Come on man...

OK the thread title killed me. Outfuckingstanding.

Bear with my shitpost for a moment here: I don't want us to trade the pick at all. I hope LeBron is The Admiral to whoever we pick in 2018 if there is someone worth it. The pieces are already there so no need for a 5-year hemorrhoid-inducing treadmill seasons just to tank and develop their youngs like what most teams do and don't even prosper after that.

Idk man Porter is so skilled. I see a superstar man.
I like Bagley too he's an amazing athlete with great upside.

But for me personally I take the Athletic Skilled player over the Ultra Athletic more raw player.

The other thing to consider about this pick is that we can now trade our first round pick in a trade. Not nearly as enticing and won't yield the return but it may open up some options that weren't possible before.

I'm not sure bagley already has a decent skill set and a lot of room to grow. I like porter as well a lot of Paul pierce in his game:chuckle:

I look forward to following this pick. Its enjoyable when rebuilding to keep track of this kind of stuff. Now we have best of both worlds.

Anyone else slightly concerned on our ability to hit on this pick. Say it lands number 4 for example?

The great thing is...the better Bagley and Porter play, the more valuable this pick is. Hence, the more likely it is teams will be willing to trade with the Cavs. Can't lose.

I'm in the camp that thinks it's unlikely LeBron is going anywhere, particularly after these offseason moves with Wade yet to come.

Personally, I'd like to see them get younger considering LeBron only has 3-4 prime years left and no real contingency plan after him.

So, to me...whoever you get with that pick should be a guy that's going to be here well past LeBron's career in Cleveland is over.

I'd lean towards holding onto that pick until you find out what it is, unless you get a godfather offer for it combined with some of the guys you're willing to offload.

Keep this fucking pick! If LeBron wants move Nets pick for someone, said BIG NO!

and on this day I would pick Bagley.

I wouldn't for Porzingis. He's hyped beyond belief because he plays for the Knicks. He's a solid young player with injury concerns and lack of consistency. Maybe he takes another step next season, but if that pick is in the 3-5 range we take Doncic and don't look back.

Who came up with this narrative that Porzingus is overhyped?

Stop.
