Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So, listen, I don't think he's good defensively. Or at least he wasn't tonight. People (Hardaway) were able to glide right by him with relative ease.

Great at running the offense though. Excellent handling the ball in the PNR with LeBron. I want to see more of that.

I think he's a solid defender. He's a physical guy. I liked the way he was hawking Thomas Weds night. That kind of play wasn't flying with the refs tonight.

He's definitely having positional issues big-time right now.

I dunno. I need to dig into his career defensive numbers a bit.

There just wasn't much defense played at all on either sides of the ball. Time will tell with Deron on the defensive side but really like how he handles the offense. Also hopefully bogut will help.

He just wasn't good on that end tonight. I haven't been a Deron Williams watcher for his career, but he got yanked for SHumpert in the 4th because of it. Hardaway got two really easy lay-ups just going right around him. The second one was for the And-1. Deron got pulled right after that.

Well, no one really defended Hardaway well :chuckle: Our D has been terrible for a couple weeks now... Really going to be refreshing to have Bogut, will help a lot.

And then Shumpert bricked an open 3 I believe. Team still really needs JR back to what he was bringing in the playoffs last year. One more shooter who is an average or better defender at the 2 is still needed

That DeBron pick and roll is going to be money. 7 assists off the bench is huge. 24 assists between Deron, LeBron, and Kyrie.

The way that the ball was flying around when he was in there with LeBron, Kyrie, and Korver was amazing, Spurs level and beyond.

Deron hasn't played defense in over 6 years.

You can't expect him to play elite defense in his second game.. defense is a team thing and it will take some time for him to learn our schema.. more critical to his role is learning the offense so he can feed the second team..while it's great to see his PN roll with LeBron, more important is that with Derrick. He keeps the second team scoring pressure, defense from the first team is good enough..

The big thing about our bench defense is Bogut hasnt even started to practice and he will be the anchor.

Knowing Lue, he is probably mainly working on the offense with Deron and will start working on Defense with the new players when Bogut is there.

Exciting times though, 7 assists and only 1 turnover, amazing efficiency running the 2nd unit. This is what i envisioned when he came here.

I don't expect Deron to play defense. I expect Deron to go out and run the offense and keep a +/- of zero.

maybe the team will miracously turn him into a solid perimeter/team defender but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If Deron can be solid on the defensive end that would be nice but he isn't and not upgrade defensively over Mo Williams(had he been playing).

so ill rephrase

Deron Williams hasn't played solid defense in 6 years.

it has nothing to do with his 2 games with the Cavs.

Remember how people were saying our bench alone could be the 8 seed in the East?

That was quite silly.

Even if you are right, how you came to that conclusion is rather unfair, for an extrapolation of how a group of guys would do together for a whole season based on their performance of one game oversimplifies the reality of what all the factors are that need to be considered when making such a prediction.

They are not prepered to play without just LeBron, and you think they will win just like that on B2B without Kyrie, LeBron and K-Love? :D
