Welcome Derrick Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In Griff I trust. We need more athleticism in our front court. Major lob target for Bronnie in the second unit. This pushes RJ in his normal position at the three. He is hybrid 3/4 that we may insert in some situations.

The FO obviously thinks the bigger changes will be coming later - either at the trade deadline, or after the buyout period. That's why we've done nothing, and now are just looking at 10 day contracts.

On a 10 day contract (with a low probability that we resign a player afterwards) I'd rather have Derrick Williams than Farmar -- we know what Farmar is...

I'd rather have Stephenson, I agree -- maybe the Cavs thought the attitude issues were too big for a guy who would likely be gone in 10 days anyway?

Give Eric Moreland a chance, give Cook a chance. I know what Derrick is capable of, while I have no idea how the others are going to look like on that team.
I think Griffin thinks Derrick Williams can make the Cavs run even more. He is a good scorer on the fast break but the Cavs need defense and playmaking and he gives them none.

It just totally defeats the defense I had for Griff that the reason he didn't sign Stephenson was because he wanted to keep the spot open for something bigger.

Apparently not.

This is just the wrong decision. I don't know any other way to look at it. It's a poor personnel move.

Good thing it's only a 10 day contract and Lance is on a 10 day so we still have a chance to get him. don't know what Griff is thinking though.

Well he is "bigger" but only in terms of dimensions^^

I mean sure he has talent if we had an open roster spot AFTER we got a PG and a Center i would actually really like him just for depth.. but BEFORE a PG and True Center comes?

huh?

The only way this makes any sense at all is that Griffin basically has a Tradeline deal already nearly done that gets us a PG and he knows we dont need the Roster Spot for a PG

So we now have the 1st, 2nd and 4th draft picks from the 2011 draft.
I see what you're doing, griff.

I remember reading that Dan Gilbert really liked Derrick Williams in the Kyrie draft and wanted to find a way to trade up to get both Kyrie and Derrick Williams. Also remember we got TT because he shut down Williams during their workout.

I still can't believe they would take a shot at Derrick Williams and not Lance. Lance would have filled multiple holes and has shown alot more at the NBA level.

Now I know that we ain't going to try out other interesting players because the luxury tax is just insane. Wasted money since it's a lose lose situation. If he impresses then we sign him for two years and I seriously doubt he is going to do much for the Cavs and if he sucks then we just wasted an opportunity to try other players.
