Welcome to Cleveland Elijah Moore

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Man, this draft class of receivers is not growing on me in the least. I think it's Quinton Johnson of TCU and a bunch of slot receivers. The Browns have three legitimate outside receivers in Coop, DPJ and now Goodwin. They could have absorbed a player like Downs of North Carolina and they would have a complete receiver room... but Elijah Moore looks like a major upgrade over everyone who will be drafted in the second round.

I still think JSN goes first.

Just because he operated out of the slot when he was the young guy on the most stacked WR group of all time doesn't mean he's limited to it.

It also doesn't mean playing out of the slot is bad. Kupp, Tyreek, Kelce, Michael Thomas--a lot of the best receivers in football play out of the slot because of the advantages it gives both them and the QB

I agree that playing out of the slot isn't necessarily bad. College coordinators need to scheme their best players into mismatches and space.

I do think she of these guys miss an opportunity to prove what they can do against NFL level cornerbacks. I watched Sauce Gardner shut Trae Flowers down in a college game. It's not even a knock against Flowers, at least I could see what Flowers does against a press.

JSN is my #2 receiver behind Johnson because TCU wasn't very creative scheming Johnson open. JSN never had to face a defense built to contain him as the top priority. Hell still be a great pro, nothing against JSN.

Didn't JSN have to face Utah in the Rose Bowl as the primary option, and then proceeded to put up, by far, the greatest day in the history of the bowl?

I think JSN is good, Browns wouldn't have had a chance to draft him this year... but I don't know if one game is a good idea to build a player's pro potential around. The slot corner for Utah may have been playing hurt, for example.

Bringing the conversation back to Moore... why are we comparing Moore to JSN if the Browns were unlikely to pick in the top half of the first round?

This is exactly what happened. Utah's secondary was so injured that they had their 3rd string RB started at CB and subsequently led the team in tackles because Ohio State was picking on him over and over again.

With that said, I think JSN will be a great pro. I recall a College Gameday segment from 2021 where both Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson said JSN is better than both of them. And Justin Fields mentioned on a podcast awhile back (when they still had the #1 pick) that one guy he'd love to see the Bears draft if they moved down would be JSN. Now it's expected that former teammates are going to have his back, but interesting nonetheless how much his teammates have gassed him up.

My best friend does, lol
...you are best friends with Karl Urban? Tell him he's one of the few guys I would go gay for. Manliest of men, at least on the screen.

Several tOSUers lately who abandoned the team to preserve their draft stock have turned into fine NFLers. JSN will be another. Would be pretty crazy if 5 WRs from the same team end up as above average to excellent WRs in the pros. But it could happen if JSN pans out and MHJ doesn't get all shooty like his dad.

Not sure if would say that, but for the price they paid, Moore was worth the shot. However, if you are going to trade for a dude who demanded a trade during season 2, when his team was winning, yo is best be ready to find him touches. I think they are there but Watson has to find him.

The Browns loved Moore coming out of the draft. I don't think they have any concerns about his attitude or anything of that nature.

Your point was "JSN never had to face a defense built to contain him as the top priority" and that's just not the case. With Olave and Wilson out, he was the #1 priority for one of the better defenses in the country--and he put up 347 yards.

No idea. I don't think the two are comparable at all, and I was high on Elijah Moore.

One thing they have in common--the ability to play (and win) outside.

Clark Phillips is a hell of a corner for Utah, and would be a great option for the nickel in spite of the national pantsing he received from JSN during the Rose Bowl.

If Phillips went to OSU instead of de-committing and winding up at Utah, my guess is Ohio State also has a national championship.

As @Urban pointed out, Phillips did get worked by JSN on some plays, but Utah also suffered a lot of injuries elsewhere in the defensive backfield for that Rose Bowl. Just going off memory from a game over a year ago, but I don't see my statement as a knock on JSN - just an asterisk I'd put next to any one single good week from any prospect. I think he's off the board by the Green Bay pick #15 anyways.

Yeah, I'll be shocked if JSN gets out of the first round.
