Welcome to Cleveland, James Hudson

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He is a long-term project and injuries forced Hudson into playing way too early. They had four tackles on the depth chart above him.

He's not even close to being ready to play.

In hindsight, Stefanski not shutting Wills down in weeks 2 and 3 really fucked this team.

Knowing this, wouldn't you expect the coaching staff to provide a little help on the edges? Maybe a TE lined up outside the tackle, chipping before he goes out? Maybe a RB to pick up a blitz?

Hudson was left on an island against Watt, and not only that, but also when they had a blitzer coming around his side uncovered and completely unaccounted for.

Hudson is getting the blame for those plays and to be fair he did miss some blocks, but a LOT of the problem was the scheme, blocking assignments, and complete lack of blitz recognition or mitigation.

Off the top of my head I bet we're the worst team in the league when it comes to burning the blitz with hot reads. Every other team in the league knows how to do this, but not us. For this I have to blame Stefanski and AVP.

Yeah, helping with chipping would have helped. Of course Hance on the other side was also playing over his head. I'm wondering why Baker can't step up and make quicker throws. I'm pretty furious like everyone else, but I'm more willing to be mad at the timing of the injuries than mad at coaches. Oh, and Chris Hubbard is a dick for taking up any cap room with his body breaking down.

I would genuinely play Alex Taylor over him. Tiny sample size, but Taylor looked a lot better than Hudson back in the preseason.

Hudson, unfortunately, has looked mostly lost since day 1.

Off the top of my head I recall about 2 plays where Baker could have pulled the trigger quicker and hit 1) Odell across the middle, and 2) unloaded anywhere before he got sacked and fumbled.

But you have to admit that Baker stepped out of a LOT of pressures, dirty pockets, he bought time and made completions down the field, and if not he ran for what positive yards he could. I watched and re-watched some of the sacks and the route design on some of them had no receiver even getting to their first cut by the time Baker was engulfed by a jailbreak. And yes as I mentioned there were a few where he could and should have pulled a quick trigger to unload to a receiver open early in the pattern. These were times when the blitzer came at him completely untouched.
