Hmm...Elson played 20 mpg for the '06-'07 Spurs...you know, the team that embarassed us in the Finals. That season he averaged 5 and 5 on 51% shooting with 77% from the FT line. Decent stats; good percentages, low totals...although how many points can you expect to score playing next to Duncan.
BUT...who knows if he's capable of putting those numbers up again. That was a couple years ago and his athletecism and skill has probably dropped off some since then. If he was to do it, it would be on a team like this Cavs team, surrounded by talent that would make his job a lot easier, kinda like that Spurs team.
I think he could be like a much more capable Joe Smith for us. His build reminds me of Garnett a lot, just slightly taller and not as strong. He is 33, but he's only been in the NBA for 6 seasons so his body doesn't have the wear and tear of a normal 33 yo NBA vet. He's a "young" 33, like AP is a "young" 34. If we're looking for another F/C I'd toss the vet min at him and try to snag him as a GOOD insurance policy/15th man. That way, if JJ/Darnell/Jawad stink it up the first couple months, we'd have someone decent to fill in for 16 mpg while we wait for Powe to get healthy. Not to mention it would be nice to be able to play a seven footer at that 4 spot occasionally.
