I know plenty of us did the game sorting list in the "What are you playing now?" thread that determined our personal rankings, so it got me thinking -- what are some of the best games you've ever played? This can be based on a variety of things, whether it's actual gameplay, graphics, story, nostalgia factor, etc.
One of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had was playing The Last of Us. I don't think I've ever played a game that believable in my entire life. The characters, the voice acting, the story, the raw emotion conveyed by fictional characters... it was one of those very rare moments that I think actually transcended simply being a game, and was more an actual experience.
Another of mine (and I might get a little roasted for this) was the Mass Effect series. Controversial ending aside, I really think that trilogy was one of the best sci-fi stories/settings to come out across any media in at least the last 10+ years, and I am really looking forward to Andromeda late next year.
Witcher 3 was a great ending to a fantastic series, and is a big reason why I am really looking forward to CD Projekt Red's next game, Cyberpunk 2077. They clearly know how to make a quality product.
Other games such as Halo, the original Pokemon games, Half Life and Half Life 2, Counterstrike, Golden Eye 007, Final Fantasy VII and X... those are also way up on the list, not because they were all great games, but because of the warm, fuzzy memories they left me with.
