What can I do about my loud neighbors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I also looked for a phone app to generate noise at specific DB, instead found one that's supposed to be a pre-calibrated meter.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/decibel-x-db-dba-noise-meter/id448155923?mt=8

THere's also probably a phone app that can generate a predetermined db level.
I didn't trust the phone apps. It just seemed off.

I just did some research and found this tho

That last app is pretty fucking accurate. I turned this and the dB meter on and with a quiet room, app sets at 19 and the meter sets at 31. With consistent noise they end up being with 5db of each other when recording noise between 40 and 70 dB. That's pretty fucking good.

Limit for noise is 40db past 10 pm

This was a quiet night

Wait Tbis is absolute bullshit. For this to be considered a nuisance the AVERAGE noise level has to be above 40db for that hour. So if you manage to fall asleep because there's a 15 minute pause and then get woken up by noise and can't get back to sleep, that means the noise isn't loud enough to impair sleep.

What an absolute joke. Consistent noise is actually easier to deal with than sporadic intermittent noise. So sprinkles of 60 in a mostly quiet place is worse than constant 40.

maybe it would help to generate some white noise to mask it? A loud floor fan or something.

You're not masking 50db

It depends how loud your white noise is. You don't need to mask the noise, if you lower the gap between the noise and the background level, you should be able to sleep through it.

They talk a little about it here

https://dengarden.com/misc/Apartment-Living-Deailng-with-Noise

Another possible thing to try are these

https://www.bose.com/en_us/products...VGsDICh0kIQDoEAAYASAAEgIqOfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

They mask the noise and work as an alarm.

I think you have enough to break your lease due to the property management doing nothing to address the noise thus not meeting any standard for quite enjoyment of your place.

Have you considered your local news channels’ resident Fix It guy?

They are usually successful at shaming a company into submission. These corporations don’t like negative press.

I think I have a case too honestly. It's been a quiet week but next time it happens I'm going down to the courthouse

@King Stannis well no, because the rule is the average noise level has to be above 40db

It's intermittent or recurrent. There is language in the guidelines and says it's considered but that's the extent of it. I may have a case I may not

Well then option one it is, guerilla warfare here we come!

A good lawyer will fight that.

It is an impossible standard unless they have a jet engine in there.

Again, you should contact the local network affiliate's fixer guy.

You know, the guy who comes one about dead-beat landlords, or other crazy consumer stories.

These charts do not seem accurate. Or idk what it is.

https://www.noisehelp.com/noise-level-chart.html

Then laughing like little nerdy girls at 40 dB is nothing like a babbling brook or a library.

Anyone wanna download the app and test it out and see for themselves?

Have you considered adding some sound of your own in the other room? Put a fan on. Put your tv at the point it gives off white noise.

Is there language in your lease against subletting?
