Had the draft last night. Going in, I was keeping LT, S Alexander, S Jackson, and McNabb. I picked 9th in the draft (linear, not snake), but via trades in the first three rounds I had the picks 9, 16, 19, 21, & 29, which ended up being in order Pit D, Shockey, TO, Plummer, and Favre. It was a little scary drafting TO, but considering that there were already 58 players off the board I felt taking him was pretty good value. Plus, with who I already had at the time I drafted him I felt I could afford the risk. Plus I handcuffed him by taking Glenn later in the draft.

Anyway, here's what my team looks like. Keep in mind that DEFs are very important in my league. The guy who won the super bowl last year had more points from PIT and CHI than I had from SA and LT. Also, we start 2 at each position. Let me know what you think:

RB
LT
Alexander
S Jackson
Mo Morris

QB
McNabb
Plummer
Favre
J Garcia

WR
TO
Andre Johnson
Glenn
Michael Clayton
Drew Bennett

TE
Shockey
LJ Smith
Winslow

DEF
PIT
PHI
BUF

K
Nate Kaeding
Kris Brown
Jason Hanson

is there like 2 people in this league??? cause theres no f'n way you could have Tomlinson, Shaun Alexander, and Stephen Jackson...

He explained that already.

you mean you kept them from last year? even if that is so, it still doesn't explain how you got them all?

I kept them from last year. As mac said, I've explained this (numerous times) before. The long and the short of it is some of the other owners in the league aren't up to snuff.

And you bet your bottom it's for money! I've made money on this league every year. I'm sure that's a shocker. :chuckles:

And there are ten teams in the league, each getting 4 keepers. We start 2 at each position, 12 total, with a fairly large bench of 10 players, so the rosters hold 22 players.

Having said that, can I get an opinion on my team now? I'm nervous that TO and Andre Johnson will flop, leaving me with pretty average WRs. I'm worried that Plummer and Favre will flop, leaving me with 1 decent QB. Even if all that happens, my team is still solid enough to make the playoffs, but likely wouldn't win the championship.

My main nemesis in the league (who actually knows what he's doing) has a pretty sweet team too. Fortunately he's in the other division, so I wouldn't meet him till the super bowl come playoff time:

QB Jake Delhomme, CAR
QB Tom Brady, NE
QB Steve McNair, BAL
RB Ronnie Brown, MIA
RB Tiki Barber, NYG
RB Frank Gore, SF
RB Chris Brown, TEN
WR Reggie Wayne, IND
WR Roy Williams, DET
WR Matt Jones, JAC
WR Eric Moulds, HOU
WR Kevin Curtis, STL
TE Heath Miller, PIT
TE Jermaine Wiggins, MIN
TE Reggie Kelly, CIN
PK Adam Vinatieri, IND
PK Jason Elam, DEN
PK Matt Stover, BAL
Def Bears, Team Defense, CHI
Def Ravens, Team Defense, BAL
Def Chiefs, Team Defense, KC
Def Raiders, Team Defense, OAK

your running backs will win you 10 games alone. and hopefully you are lucky in the playoffs.

your team is fine. hopefully both shockey and k2 both blow up and you can trade one of them for a WR during the season. If the other teams can't draft, Im sure they would make bad trades too.

You betcha! How do you think I landed such great keepers?

Speaking of which, one owner has the following QBs, RBs, and DEFs:

QB Drew Brees, NO
QB Matt Hasselbeck, SEA
QB Chris Simms, TB
RB Corey Dillon, NE
RB Willie Parker, PIT
RB Kevin Jones, DET
RB LenDale White(r), TEN
Def Jaguars, Team Defense, JAC
Def Giants, Team Defense, NYG
Def Titans, Team Defense, TEN

Barlow is an FA. I'm trying to decide how comfortable I feel with him as a third back. If I feel comfortable with that, I was thinking of offering this guy the following trade:

Jackson, Farve, BUF for Hasselbeck, JAX

If he rejects it, I could counter by offering the same trade but with Plummer instead of Farve. What do you think? If I had a crystal ball and knew without doubt that SA and LT weren't getting injured, this would be a real easy decision, but since I don't I'm a little nervous with Barlow as my three.

OK, I just read that Blaylock is likely starting. So no, I'm not comfortable with Barlow as my third back. Blaylock is also available, but either seem pretty bad right now.

Check out this guy, he could use an RB like SJ:

QB Trent Green, KC
QB Drew Bledsoe, DAL
QB Mark Brunell, WAS
QB Brian Griese, CHI
RB LaMont Jordan, OAK
RB Julius Jones, DAL
RB Fred Taylor, JAC
RB Ahman Green, GB

I could go SJ and Favre for Bledsoe and Taylor. Hmmm, or better yet SJ, Favre, BUF def for Bledsoe, Taylor, and ATL def. That way I upgrade two positions while downgrading just one. What do you think?

OK, this guy is in desparate need of an RB like SJ:

QB Peyton Manning, IND
QB Eli Manning, NYG
QB Charlie Frye, CLE
QB Matt Leinart(r), ARI
RB Thomas Jones, CHI
RB De'Shaun Foster, CAR
RB Mike Bell(r), DEN
RB Cedric Benson, CHI
RB Brandon Jacobs, NYG

Peyton is untouchable, but what about Eli? I'm thinking Plummer and SJ for Eli and one of Bell, Foster, or both Benson/Jones. Who do you like the best of Bell, Foster, or both Benson/Jones?

Edit: just read that Mike Bell vs Tatum Bell is still undecided, and is so close that even if Mike starts week 1 it doesn't mean Tatum won't start later in the season. So who do you like better, Foster or Benson/Jones?

Man, I've just gone through all the teams who have decent QBs that would be enough of an upgrade over Plummer that it would be worth it for me to move SJ. The only two where there is a good fit are those above, Bledsoe and Eli. I'm going to try for Eli first then Bledsoe. If neither of them work out, I may have to try and work a three team trade.

You've now bumped your own thread 5 times... are you trying to set a record? ;)

Hmmm, this guy doesn't need an RB per say, but I could upgrade him with SJ:

QB Aaron Brooks, OAK
QB Michael Vick, ATL
QB Brad Johnson, MIN
QB J.P. Losman, BUF
RB Larry Johnson, KC
RB Reuben Droughns, CLE
RB Joseph Addai(r), IND
RB Jamal Lewis, BAL

What do you think of Favre and SJ for Vick and Reuben?

lol. I'm trying to upgrade my QB, if you haven't noticed.

My nemesis didn't even need to upgrade his, yet he did. Just today he traded Brady for Palmer straight up, to the league's Pats fanatic. :(

If someone would actually throw in their opinion these would just be replies instead of bumps. Alas, I can't buy an opinion.
