I finally got to thinking. On the outer layer, this draft lacks that surefire superstar in all aspects without any risks. Also, it seems rather deceptively weak. But at the same time, the Cavaliers are in a hurry to start competing again in time for the 2014 summer of free agency. So this draft has some sort of impact on their future.

What do you guys think? We have 1 pick in the top 10. 1 between 15-30. And 2 between 31-35. What is the ideal 2013 Draft decisions and how they impact the future?

My Ideal Draft Day/Night is hopefully landing in a good spot in the top 10 and get a guy that we hope pans out. That could be Noel, Porter, Len. We could target a talent at the same position and trade him for an asset or 2 but I know we should get someone of at least Thompson's or Waiter's talent.

We should focus on getting only one more guy, since the roster turnover we have is huge. I would prefer using minimal assets to get the second guy and hopefully getting someone of some value. I would prefer that to be a swingman, since I don't trust the big men at all. Considering the weakness of the draft, I would like to see us get Alex and Otto with our two picks, but I expect that to be difficult, so I won't bother. But I would like to see a possible home-run deal made, but would be okay with getting commodities on the market instead.

Next, if we don't get a good enough piece with the second pick, we should package it all for another pick in 2014. The picks are important to stock up since everybody will want them and we have nothing to lose, yet.

I'd like one solid prospect. Len, Noel, or Bennett. Those guys have the chance to be great NBA players, maybe not stars, but solid guys. If we could some how trade our others for a potential lotto pick next year, I would. I just don't think theres a large chance of that happening.

Noel or Porter. Len if those 2 are gone.

Wouldn't mind a trade either. A win now trade or a trade for a top 2014 pick. Either way.

Porter. I don't care what we do with the other picks.

This is my absolute dream scenario though.

Win the lotto, trade that pick for a pick around 4 (that's the Otto pick) and a pick mid-late lotto, trade that, lakers pick, and second rounders for a pick around 5 ish (Len)

That won't happen, so just give me Porter and I'll be happy.

Noel or Len then a wing with good size and a 3 point shot

I inherently dislike all the threads dedicated to draft positions with so little set in stone. I want the lottery over, the Lakers situation finished, and at that point I can dare to comment.

There are only four guys I want with our pick.

-If first pick is Porter or Oladipo, target Olynk, Gobert, Dieng, McGary, or Austin with the our second pick, using the second rd. picks to move up if necessary

-If first pick is Len or Noel, target Muhammad, GRIII, Karasev with our second pick.

-If we definitely get the Lakers pick at 16, consider agressive trades (16, 2 second rounders, Gee, taking on a bad deal) to get back up as high as 7-8 if someone like Porter, Len, or Oladipo slides that low.

-Avoid Zeller. Avoid Muhammad with the first pick or a top 10 pick. Oladipo is the only SG I would consider due to his defensive prowess and potential ability to guard many SF's.

-Once the Sacramento/Seattle situation is resolved, they may feel emboldened to "Win Now" desperately to appease whichever rabid fanbase just "won" them. Look into creative ways of getting the Kings to lessen the protection on the future pick so that for 2014 it goes down to top 3 protection only. Consider chips like the Lakers pick if we get it, Gee, Andy, Zeller, and the 2nd rounders(obviously not all of them). But with the West as it is, they will still most likely be a 8-10 slot in the 2014 draft. Since so many people consider it such a deep draft. Play around with ways to get that Kings pick, so that we have to picks in that draft.

Noel or bust. He's the only guy capable of making a statement in the NBA in this draft. He will make a defensive statement, which is exactly what this team is lacking. We draft Noel this summer we are in the playoffs next year no problem. I would do anything we can do to get him.

My ideal draft is to win the lottery, draft Noel, then have the Lakers make the playoffs, then move up to somehow also take Porter, thus giving us both Noel AND Porter. Now THAT would be an ideal draft.

My ideal draft has us getting: Steven Adams, Giannis Adetkunbo, Sergey Karasev and Nate Wolters.

Noel, Dieng and the Adetunkentankenkumba kid. I'm fascinated with him.

I'll go ideal and maybe realistic at the same time:
Draft Otto Porter at #4
Trade Anderson Varejao and 2014 1st top 5 protected to OKC for the #7 pick and Kendrick Perkins (buyout Kendrick Perkins), draft Alex Len at #7.
Trade the Lakers pick #17 to the Indiana Pacers for SF Danny Granger who has an expiring $14 million dollar contract and gives us a proven SF that can teach the Porter as he's most often compares to Granger, plus it helps keep Granger healthy and a line-up of Irving or Waiters/Porter/Granger as a lineup works well also as I think both Granger and Porter can defend the 2 position as well.
Trade both 2nd round picks to Phoenix for Marcin Gortat's expiring contract as Phoenix will likely want/need that cap to make a run at Bynum/Howard/Iggy as they often think short term not long term

Then after thr draft sign Greg Oden to a 3 yr contract, ETO in year 2, player option for year 3. Resign Livingston to a similar contract.

2013/14 roster
PG-Kyrie Irving/Shaun Livingston
SG-Dion Waiters/Otto Porter/Wayne Ellington
SF-Danny Granger/Otto Porter/Alonzo Gee
PF-Tristan Thompson/Tyler Zeller
C-Marcin Gortat/Alex Len/Greg Oden

Expiring contracts totaling 23 million via Granger and Gortat, options on Oden and Livingston that could be about another 5-7 million. Now granted giving up a top 5 protected pick in such a loaded draft as next year seems like a risky situation, but given how the roster would look and the depth, even a couple of injuries wouldn't hurt too bad as long as we don't have them all at the same time. That would be a playoff roster like a 5th seed, maybe higher if they stay healthy.
