I know this is premature. (Heck, we might own the 1st pick in the draft, - but it's not likely.) We will probably be picking around 6-12.
The top player in the draft would mean we would definitely have two premium players to build around. Not one premium, and one pretty good.

[ My choice would be Anthony Davis. He has two of our biggest needs - height and talent. He could be a perfect complementary piece to Kyrie. But this thread is not about that.]

Assuming we would pick 6-12, I would offer that pick, next year's #1 (top 6 protected), and TT. That's a total of 3 1st round picks (Like the Redskins).

Why trade TT? I admit he has defensive talent and can develop. But I just don't see him as a starting PF on a good team.

This isn't the NFL. The team that gets the #1 pick this year is not going to trade it.

yeah in NFL there's more roles to fit, in NBA it's all star oriented and having 3 superstars you can put scrubs & ringchasers around that and win.

TT could still end up being a star.

Anything and everything other than Kyrie.
ya both of these should be obvious

davis is pretty much the third best prospect of the past decade. obv you offer everything you possibly can for #1 but in the end he's going to end up wearing the jersey of whichever team wins the lottery.

Makes me smile that Kyrie might be considered in the top 3 in terms of best number one picks over the past 10 years!

It all depends on where we draft, but if we crack the top 6 in the 2012 draft, no way in hell I trade all this. Anthony Davis will be a stud, but there are some other guys in this draft that will also be stars. If we have a chance to take a MKG/Beal/Drummond straight up, just do that. If we have the ability to trade our pick and the LAL pick for one of those guys, absolutely. But to mortgage our future like that with a roster so devoid of talent? No thanks.

meh, i don't think "mortgaging the future" like that is all that bad. having two elite players, esp when one is abig, would make building a contender a lot easier.

it'd be different if davis were a significant risk, like perry jones or even drummond to an extent. but with his passion, work ethic, and all the other intangibles that are hugely important to a players ability to reach his ceiling, i think davis is exactly the type of player where sending away that much is worth the "risk."

No it just depends on how great Davis is going to be and how much better he will be than the rest of the draft class. Since we have Kyrie we can now afford to mortgage the future to get another potential superstar next to him.

Not to mention, Davis is exactly the kind of player who would fit wonderfully with Kyrie. Although it feels like this team hasn't had a good wing in 20 years.

2002 Houston Rockets Yao Ming
2003 Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James
2004 Orlando Magic Dwight Howard
2005 Milwaukee Bucks Andrew Bogut
2006 Toronto Raptors Andrea Bargnani
2007 Portland Trail Blazers Greg Oden
2008 Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose
2009 Los Angeles Clippers Blake Griffin
2010 Washington Wizards John Wall
2011 Cleveland Cavaliers Kyrie Irving

rose Howard & James are all better picks currently
blake & Kyrie are fighting for 4 though..edge to Kyrie due to not just being hyped because of his hops & having a more rounded game.

Half a testicle.

Maybe 3/4 if Davis happens to grow another inch while I'm typing this post.

I'd take Yao Ming as my 4th.
