Where My Pete Nance Fans At

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Can you or anyone think of a undrafted big man who went to the G-League that worked out in the NBA? There are several back court players, but I really dont remember any front court players that have.

So many!

Birdman Anderson made it as a center, as did Hassan Whiteside. Nance is more of a stretch four, so Paskal Siakim, Anthony Tolliver, Duncan Robinson, Chris Boucher, and PJ Tucker. Plenty of stretch fours started out limited power forwards in the G League in need of a reliable jumps shot.

EDIT: Lost track of the "undrafted" part with that list.

Our very own Dean Wade.

Whiteside was a great example I forgot about. Siakim was a 1st rounder, Robinson isnt a PF, he is a very slow 3, lol. Boucher is another, he went undrafted.

Thanks. I dont see it with Pete, but i really, really hope I am wrong. I just love the whole family and would love for Pete to work out in even an extreme reserve role. I guess he cant be worse than Damian Jones can he?

I agree on Pete. I don't think what he is doing in the G-League will convey. He is tall and athletic, so that at least gives him a punchers chance. But he is a distant last place for me of all of the Cavs developmental guys...at least on who I think could make NBA careers. Would love to be wrong, though.

Cavs had to sign someone prior to Thursday to hit the minimum 14 player roster count.

Really good point. Pete has been our unofficial fourth two way contract. He's happy to be home and playing ball, and I don't see another team offering him a rookie contract yet. I - Mobley plays a much better floor game, Nance's only shot to leapfrog him is to become a more consistent three point threat more quickly.

The dude on Portland that lit us up comes to mind. Duop Reath, i think his name is?

I have absolutely no issue with the Cavs rewarding a member of Cavalier basketball royalty, who has been working his tail off, with a couple of ten days. I actually love it. Cleveland basketball does have a legacy.

I dont think anyone should look much past it being just that though. He's unlikely to play any minutes and unlikely to get more than a couple of these deals.

The 10-day is also often a way of rewarding a guy with some extra cash. He won't play meaningful minutes, but its a nice gesture by Koby to reward one of "our guys".

Great way to reward a guy by fulfilling a dream of playing in the NBA. Even if he barely (or never) plays, he will always be able to say he was on an NBA roster now. This team is building a reputation for being a player-friendly destination. I think it helps to counteract the Cleveland part in *certain* players' minds. It's certainly a big part of how we landed Strus.

Anyhow, this just seems like another example of the team building and rewarding positive relationships.
