Speights, Hickson, and Blair are all likely to be free agents next summer.

All three are young front court players tha can do some things well, but have weaknesses in their games that keep them from being stars.

All three will be looking for the biggest contract of their careers.

Hickson....shooting the ball well and averaging a double double. Should get a decent contract this summer

One of the bottom dwellers will be all excited they signed a guy with a ton of "potential." Their fanbase will rejoice. That person is JJ.

Hickson. Getting the most minutes and putting up some really nice numbers

Still so strange to me how well he is playing at the center position, although I believe that is where he was most productive with us as well.

Hicksons advanced metrics are just awfull. No GM who wants their job should pay him big money. Speights is consistent and plays some defense

I think part of the reason why JJ does so well at center is because it forces him to be physical and pay attention to the basket. He gets a lot of rebounds & putbacks if you keep him with one foot in the paint at all times. It also forces JJ to be more of a strong side defender than a weak side defender. He's a bad strong side defender because he gives up too much size against centers, but he's an even worse weak side defender. No awareness. When JJ plays forward, he drifts to the outside and gets disengaged on both sides of the floor.

When Speights was drafted #16 in 2008, I was happy because I thought it would help the Cavs avoid the temptation to take him. Instead they drafted a very similar guy in Hickson. Today I think Speights has a better chance of "getting it" some day because he just seems like a brighter guy who can see X's and O's and understands what coaches want, even if he doesn't always do it. He just lacks interest sometimes, he doesn't lack awareness.

Blair will probably get a "role player" deal from a team that needs rebounding. $3Mil tops.

If Speights opts out, I think his future with the Cavs is going to come down to the draft. If the Cavs draft big & sign Oden, then the only why the Cavs sign him would be as part of a S&T. I don't know what part the Cavs will play in Speights future until after the draft. That makes it tough to figure out how much he gets.

For the same reason that Drew Gooden got an MLE deal to play center, I think there's a pretty good chance that JJ gets an MLE deal this summer. There are teams still bite on hollow stats. That's why I think JJ gets the most and some team gets buyer's remorse.

JJ had 22pts and 11 rebounds against Howard and the LAL. He was 11-15 shooting. Howard had 19pts on 7-14 shooting and 16 rebounds. JJ is in for a very nice contract. My guess is 3 year 20m on the low side aand 3 year 24M on high side. Speights will likely be 3 year 12 to 15m IMHO the Cavs gave up too early on JJ and Danny Green for that matter.

If we can't re-sign Speights to a reasonable deal, I wouldn't mind Blair if he came cheap.

I think JJ could get up to 7-8 million per year while Speights could get 5-6 million per year and Blair is 4 M at best

I think it depends. Speights is 4 . that where he plays the best and is most effective. JJ Hickson can be plugged in at either the 4 or 5 and still operate at simliar efficiencies.

that said I dont see either of them getting more than 7 million. Hickson I think is the bigger gamble

Probably Hickson because he puts up inflated, empty stats starting on a bad team with no bench. Fortunately for Hickson, there are always GMs who look at those inflated, empty stats and think they're signing a potential star.

Another nice game for JJ 7-8 shooting 18 points and 16 rebounds. Averaging a double double this year 13 points 10 rebounds. Only 24 years old and will be getting better and better.

Nobody here cares about his empty stats
