Windy: Mike Brown and Danny Ferry secret LA free agency meeting

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not that I was a huge Marrion fan, but everytime we meet someone they end up signing with someone else. I dont blame Danny for everything, but if we have to beg Frey to come here that is sad. The guy is a decent backup, but soft as a starter. Ferry is going to have to work the tade market, or just go ahead and make a strong pusch for Anthony Parker and Kliesa, and find a way top trade for boozer. (sorry Boozer haters but our options are runnig out! Remember as of Today we really do not have a starting caliber PF on the roster. Forgot about an "ideal stretch" PF we need a freaking legitmate PF. Andy is a back up and JJ is not readuy and Darnell is your class garbage man off the bench.

Cavs fans cannot take it personal when a free agent decides to sign with another team. While the number one objective of fans is for their team to win, players think differently. Take Channing Frye for example. He will end up signing with a team out west, probably Phoenix, because he played at Arizona and grew up in New Mexico (I read this somewhere, so correct me if I'm wrong). He is obviously thinking about 'quality of life' factors, just like you would if you had to choose a city to move your family to.

Ron Artest has been trying to get the Lakers to go after him for a few years now, simply because he is into the Hollywood/entertainment lifestyle. And the Lakers just won a title to boot. His choice is understandable as well.

Trevor Ariza wanted a guarantee that he would start, so he went to Houston. He has a title under his belt, so now it is about showing off his game and becoming a household name. And compared to Cleveland, Houston is a nicer city to live in. Just being honest.

For professional athletes, it is not always about winning. They are human beings with various wants and needs. Add to this the fact that the Cavaliers are not the most stable franchise and its star player has been hinting that he may take a hike soon, and it's easy to understand why players would choose other teams to play for.

marc stein reporting mavs and raps are talking sign and trade for marion..........maybe thats who hes landing with (which would be fine)

I dont see how they can do a S&T with Marion when they have to renounce his rights to get Hedo. They lose S&T rights when they renounce him..

I wonder how that is possible since Toronto will have to renounce Marion's rights in order to sign Turkoglu. If he's renounced they can't sign and trade him. We'll see whats up there.

was wondering the same thing? not sure about that but yeah we'll see

According to Stein, it's for Jerry Stackhouse, who is scheduled to make 7, but only 2 is guaranteed.....

The Stein article says that they'll sign and trade Marion and get Stackhouse's 7 million dollar contract. However, only 2 million of that is guaranteed so essentially it'll cost the Raptors 2 million dollars worth of cap space in order to do it. Sounds like it can be done.

yup, stacks contract does make more sense after looking at that.......thanks guys

As all these domino's are falling off the board it looks like Ferry is now looking for quality depth instead of that 1 impact guy. Perhaps a Frye/Parker combo with the MLE and another player with the BAE. Depth is an important thing and not a terrible strategy given how easy it is to screw up your cap situation with the 1 bad contract.

maybe we'll get Childress, wasnt a big fan of getting Marion....Its starting to look like we'll come up empty handed in free agency.

Agreed, i think that's what the management is probably moving on to right now....however....we all know our depth gave us 66wins last season despite injuries, but the playoffs start, our top 7/8 guys just don't match up.

This would mean Bass is most likely out with them having agreed to sign Gortat if this deal for Marion were to go down. Dirk will get his 40 minute per night at PF and Marion could play the other 8 or so like MB did with LeBron at times. As Bass is too small to play center, should this deal go down he would most likely be available.
