Wittman out, McHale in for TWolves

Re: Report: Wittman out, McHale in

I'm really shocked... the guy is one of the most respected coaches in the league.

Oh, wait...

I actually wonder if Wittman would be a good head coach with a decent team to lead. One must admit, he has never had that chance.

Re: Report: Wittman out, McHale in

I am always amazed that McHale has been able to keep his job for that team. What exactly has he done to deserve it?

Drop his first poop in Minny

Hand Ainge and the Celtics a title by basically giving them Garnett last year? That had to make David Stern happy and keep McHale immune from firing for at least 10 more years.

Minnesota Timberwolves fire coach Randy Wittman

By JON KRAWCZYNSKI – 15 minutes ago

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Timberwolves fired coach Randy Wittman on Monday, two days after an embarrassing 23-point loss at home to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Kevin McHale, the team's vice president of basketball operations, will take over coaching duties, according to a person familiar with the decision who requested anonymity because an announcement had yet to be made.

Wittman was 38-105 since taking over for Dwane Casey in January 2007. McHale picked Wittman to preside over the team's massive rebuilding project in the post-Kevin Garnett era.

Wittman went 22-60 in his only full season at the helm last year. The team entered this season with higher expectations, but are off to a 4-15 start. After keeping things close in the early going, the Wolves lost by 29 points at New Jersey on Friday night, then were blown out by the lowly Clippers at home on Saturday night to seal Wittman's fate.

4th coach & its only December.

Re: Report: Wittman out, McHale in

It's amazing that Wittman did twice as bad in Minny as he did in Cleveland. I never thought that'd be possible.

Re: Report: Wittman out, McHale in

McHale is a terrible GM

Dealing Kevin Love for OJ Mayo? Trading Brandon Roy for Randy Foye? Giving KG away for Al Jefferson?

He traded two of the best young swingmen in the league for two players who if there was a re-draft based on their careers thus far would be mid to late round picks.

Just across the ticker...McHale steps down as VP of Basketball Operations to focus on coaching...can I be the GM?

it really makes me thankful that we have such a stable organization here in Cleveland

what a mess

Don't forget the Joe Smith debacle, which IMO went a long way towards them losing Garnett. McHale's moves were so awful I think even Isiah started taking notes at some point.

Thank goodness. Now maybe the owners of the team can see exactly how bad McHale really is.
