Wizzy Wizards thread..

Okay, so I think most astute basketball minds would recognize the fact that the Wizards are a team that might have to be dealt with.. In all honestly, if this team was healthy the last few years, they would have been a top 4 team based on their offense alone...

That's pretty much the same case due to Flip being an offensive coach.. Yet, he's an upgrade over Eddie Jordan..

Gilbert with 29-9 yesterday looked damn dominant... Without Jamison too..

I'm with Max on this one, Wizards make me nervous...

The Wizards will have a lot of trouble with Shaq. Haywood can't guard him alone like Perkins kinda could last night, and when Shaq gets doubled the rest of our guys will make them pay.

I don't see the Wiz as much of a threat to our team minus Shaq, let alone including him. No team in the NBA can beat us in a series unless they have an elite defense i.e. Boston, Orlando, LA, San Antonio. That much seems clear to me. We have enough offensive weapons to outscore any team without a suffocating defense. The Wiz need to prove to me that they have a suffocating defense for me to be worried at all.

They were pretty solid in '06.

Realistically though, it's totally fair to be concerned with teams like Washington, Boston, Orlando and LA. However, remember that they all think the same thing about us.

Last night was a bummer for sure, but it was far from a fair assessment of our team. Yes, we should not take any of them lightly, but we're hardly the underdog in any of these matchups. They're anyone's ball game.

They clearly have the pieces and Mike Miller can flat out shoot ..... don't wanna leave that dude open. They can make some noise.

I know we're usually on the other end of one-sided "rivalries" but in this situation I have to say until the Wizards beat us in a meaningful game/series, I'm convinced they aren't that special. Hell in 2008 I thought they were better than us going into the playoffs but they still didn't beat us so I'm not convinced yet.

In the season preview thread I picked them to be a 4 or 5 seed out of the east if they were healthy. I still feel they will be one or the other and can create some issues in the play-offs. In a seven game series I still do think we win in 4 to 5. We would have issues at PF and PG play but dominate in the other three postions. I think Gilbert will have his best year as a PG in the nba if he is healty, a big if considering the history.

Good point, however, I can tell you they will be much better than they were last year when they beat us twice (almost 3) times.

No, they arent in LA,SA,Boston,Orlando, or Clevelands category, but they wont be garbage at all

Doesn't matter... think I said before that their ceiling is last year's Hawks. Not a threat to the elite at all. If the Wiz and their fans are happy with that, then so be it. Congrats on getting stomped in the first or second round.

Its the same old crew that can never stay healthy, and never beat a great team in a series. To me they are just a group of good players who wont get anywhere together.
