How about instead of the rookie/sophomore game, they did a 3 on 3 tournament instead?
You could have 8 teams of three or four. That's 24-32 guys.
Each game would follow hoop-it-up rules link. Each game would be 10 or 12 minutes long.
That would be 70 or 84 minutes of total game time which could easily fit into a TV schedule.
The longest any guy could possibly play would be 30 or 36 minutes.
Eligibility could be changed so that any guy not voted into the All-Star game is eligible. This would allow guys like Jarrett Jack and Jonas Valanciunas to participate in All-Star weekend.
No guy would be compelled to participate. He could declare himself ineligible for the draft.
The teams would be drafted by TNT personalities. That alone might get decent ratings.
You guys think this would work? See any ways to make it better? See any ways it wouldn't work?
