The Spurs have Tony Parker or George Hill. While the Spurs aren't necessarily shopping either player, they're not untouchable, either. If the Spurs can get another big man to help prolong Tim Duncan's career, they'll do it.

We actually have a decent stock of players to play next to Duncan.

So I was thinking something like this:

Hickson, Jameson, West (expiring) for Parker, McDyess.

That would be an awful deal for the Cavs. Just awful.

I wouldn't want Tony Parker regardless, Mo is an infinitely better fit than Tony Parker.

Giving up Hickson AND Delonte's contract for him? Wouldn't even consider it.

Not quite sure how Tony Parker would be a better fit than Mo on this team, as his midrange game and 3pt range is less than stellar for a guard next to LeBron.

George Hill on the other hand, would probably be the more preferable choice of the two.

Regardless of his fit next to LeBron, I'm a Tony Parker fan but would take a pass on trading for him.

Parker's contract expires after next season and he's made it clear he will listen to offers from the NY Knicks amongst other teams. Not to mention his wife will have a say and can't see Eva Longoria coming to Cleveland in the winter to watch Tony play.

Too bad the Spurs grabbed Hill in the 2008 draft. From all reports Ferry apparently had his eye on Hill if he slipped into the 2nd round.

Parker was the best player on the court in the NBA finals 4 years ago, something Mo never will be. Parker is capable of taking over a game and is a legit 2nd best player on a championship team. If we have a shooter at the 2 to stretch the defense, LeBron and Parker should play just fine together.

Parker tore apart an inexperienced, hobbled Cleveland team.

I'd argue that not only is Tony Parker not a true "second best player on a title team", I'd argue that Ginnobli has been the second most important player on the vast majority of those teams the Spurs had throughout their decade of excellence.

Both guards LBJ plays with have to be able to shoot or they instantly have someone to cheat off of every single time without penalty.

Not to mention, Tony Parker will be a free agent next summer and has had a ridiculous amount of injury problems over the past two years.

You have us trading away our most promising YOUNG BIG MAN to possibly rent Tony Parker for a year for the chance that a guard who can't shoot will work next to LeBron after 7 years of guards who cant shoot not working next to LeBron all based on the flawed and strange idea that he's some magical asset because he was the Finals MVP in the 2007 domination of the Cleveland Cavaliers whose best two perimeter defenders were hobbled/injured the entire series and who had Drew Gooden has one of the primary help defenders.

People need to stop crying about "fit" and start thinking TALENT.

I mean hell, Parker had no problems playing with Tim Duncan, who used to demand a lot of defensive attention just like LeBron.

Spot up shooting it not the only thing you need to put next to LeBron. How many people here cried about Mo Williams never being aggressive and attacking the hoop?

I usually agree with you on most things but Mo being better than TONY PARKER?
Finals MVP Tony Parker?
He was injured last season and still posted comparable stats to Mo while injured
08-09 he averaged : 22/7/3.
A healthy Tony Parker is>>>>Mo.
His range isn't as far as Mo's,but hes got a good mid range jumper.
His defense is infinitely better than Mo's,too.

Edit:I can see the argument that Mo would ultimately be a better fit for our team, but Parker definitely the better player.

He meant better fit and not better player, but I do agree with every thing else you said. Tony Parker is a good player, but imo I would pass as I think the Spurs would want far to much, if we think Ferry likes steals, he learned from the Spurs.

I never said he was a worse player, I said FIT.

Fit is important, whether you like it or not. Screaming the word talent doesn't make it more important than fit. I can give dozens of examples of talent being rendered useless because of fit.

As for him being a better defender, no he's not. Puh-leeze....it's easy to cover up the liability that Tony Parker is defensively when he's spent his entire career with one of the best defensive anchors in NBA history playing behind him. If he had to play with old Shaquille O Neal behind him, he's look just as bad as Steve Nash did and as bad as Mo Williams did. If Mo or Nash got to play with a prime Duncan or even a 33 year old Tim Duncan behind them they'd pass as "acceptable".

If by FIT we mean a guy who suddenly becomes pretty average shooter in the playoffs and is atrocious defender then yes, Mo is a great fit.

parker has proven himself in a lot of other situations other than the finals. he was fantastic for a 4 yr stretch until last season. hell, in 2009 he was arguably their best player, with a .556 ts% on a whopping 31.7 usg.

last season he was hobbled by plantar fascittis, a foot problem that has a very very high likelihood of disappearing with some rest. i cant remember the injury problems from the yr prior, that you mentinon. could you be more specific? he did play great in the playoffs vs dallas that yr with a 29.3 per.

I am all in favor of this trade
