I keep having this thought pop into my mind.

It really makes sense IMO.

Owens is a shadow of his former self and really seems to have come to terms with it. That said, he still makes for a viable secondary option for any team, especially one lacking for playmakers like the Browns currently are.

There is a desperate need for a veteran receiver on this team if we indeed go into next season giving Quinn one last chance.

Mo Mass and Robo (1 yr), Stuckey (4 years) and Cribbs (specialty receiver) show this is a DANGEROUSLY inexperienced unit as a whole.

Holmgren's aptitude and level of respect make will give him the benefit of the doubt to make such a move, and Owens will benefit from stepping into an offense where he can be considered the best available weapon.

He plays alongside Mo Mass, giving the Browns two capable starting receivers and a capable tight end for it's young quarterback.

I really think his "attitude" and "team cancer" moniker withers with age, and he could be a very good fit if the Browns are unable to lure a guy like Torry Holt into town.

I am sorry there is no way that TO would come to Cleveland. There isn't a quality QB to get him the ball. He would be doubled on every down. I just don't see it happen. It would be nice. Just not gonna happpen unfortunatlely.

But there was in Buffalo?

I don't want him. His hands are comparable to BE's with 10x as much baggage.

Boobie,

I had similar thoughts and justifications as you. But, I must disagree that his cancer label withers with age. He criticized playcalling (whether explicilty or implicitly) throughout the season last year, in Buffalo, a similar city to Cleveland, with a similar team, and a similar QB situation. Randy Moss last year also demonstrated that cancers can still continue as athletes get older, especially when you're not winning.

This team is intent on getting read of people with questionable attitudes (Braylon, Kellen, Shaun Smith). I don't think we're really willing to take a chance on a guy with such a risk for explosion.
I'm just looking at our latest acquisitions.
Seneca Wallace- great team player, hard worker, haven't heard any gripes about being stuck behind Hasselbeck throughout his career.
Scott Fujita- donated his half of his Super Bowl bonus to NO and Haiti. One of the leaders of a championship defense that led the league in takeaways. His whole team was upset with him leaving.
Ben Watson- Scored one of the highest scores ever on the Wonderlic, if not THE highest score. Caused a touchdown-saving, momentum swinging fumble, after chasing down the defender 100 yards.
Pashos- has a beard sometimes.

TO really doesn't fit the mold of those guys.

I'd rather be eatin' alive by a large cat.

His attitude might be worse than Braylon, and if he wasn't a Mangini guy then TO definately isn't.

I'd just stay away from this if I were the Browns.

We've got to get the ball to our young receivers or bring in someone that will spend a chunk of their career defining the offense's receiving corps. Sure, bring in a new guy, but not just to rent. Where does that get you if you're a team trying to rebuild yourself into an exemplary franchise? It also isn't worth the money we'd have to spend either. Mo Mass shouldn't be counted out yet, either.

It makes sense from the standpoint that we need a #1, but all things considered, it's a bad fit.

If you believe everything you hear on ESPN...I guess.

Quite frankly I think his persona is quite overblown.

He wasn't a cancer in Buffalo but that was for one year.

Another year on a bad team, shitty QB, etc and he'd flip out.

Well, Holmgren was the offensive coordinator who drafted and developed Owens. I'm sure he is taking a little longer to think about this move than some posters here... we have no established offensive weapons. Harrision was great for about four games, Watson has proven that he can be a third option. Everything else is potential and possibilities.
