Given that JJ doesn't attract interest from a team with a major piece (i.e - Bosh), I think this might be an interesting topic to ponder..

Randolph is once again a part of trade talks after being in trade talks all throughout last year... Randolph and his agent seem to want out of GSW and Nellie seems to want Randolph out of GSW... So without a doubt he's available..

Last year I remember the Cavs being linked to Randolph and the Warriors also being linked to Hickson...

So I think this is a legit possibility, especially with the Warriors wanting to get rid of Maggette as well and the Cavs having interest in Maggette last year... Perhaps something like JJ, Delonte and Jamario for Maggette and Randolph?

Without typing long-winded rant on why I'd take Randolph for Hickson, the bottom line is that Randolph has a higher ceiling... Randolph also has the frame to be better matchup wise on defense and has the potential to be a bigger mismatch on the offensive end... Both players are in the developmental stages and we've seen how much JJ has progressed but we've also seen how much matchups matter in the playoffs.. And to me Randolph helps us in that category more so than Hickson...

Thoughts?

No. Randolph is too fragile mentally to ever fully tap into his potential. I don't think you can say the same for JJ. I'd much rather have 90% of what JJ could be over 75% of what Randolph could be.

from your article it sounds like Minnesota is going to get him. And no, I wouldn't want to trade JJ for Randolph, I'm just not a fan of him. He doesn't seem to be 100% focused on basketball. Seems like he won't reach his potential. JJ however seems to like to put in work in the offseason.

Well...if Rchfld is right....he's Kevin Garnett 2.0......so I'd take a chance on him :)

I'm not a huge Anthony Randolph fan, so no.

I think its a no brainer,i like JJ but Randolph has the tools to be 10x the player JJ is.
Randolph can't really shoot the 3 but he has a pretty decent mid range game.
I don't see why GSW's do it,i know they don't like Randolph but i think other teams could offer a better package than JJ.

Randolph is a better ball-handler and shooter than JJ, but JJ has much more power and I would think he's more effective playing off the ball (like in pick-and-rolls). JJ's jump shot can always improve, he's still only 21. So I would keep JJ.

Stretching it a bit there. And he may have the tools but he doesn't have the discipline or maturity.

I'd be interested in that trade if the #6 was attached to the deal, though GS wouldn't do that so I dunno.

I'm guessing something like #4/#16 for Randolph/#6 happens. Or maybe #4/#23/#45.

Randolph has a decent jumpshot now,JJ's is progressing.
Randolph can create his own shot,JJ thrives off of people creating his shot for him.
Randolph even has decent handles,for a 4.
Meanwhile, people are photoshopping JJ's face on the guy from the burger king commercial
"I have these tiny hands!"

Randolph is the better player now,and i think is a better option for what we need on our team.
Don't get me wrong,i love JJ,but we commit highway robbery if we were to do this.

JJ is the better power forward.

Randolph is the better point forward.

We don't need a big who is weak inside and can handle the ball... we need someone who will play tough inside, finish strong, and play good defense. Right now JJ is a better player than Anthony "Magic" Randolph, and I believe that JJ has the drive to continue to develop into an above average starting PF in this league. I feel that Randolph does have a high ceiling, but his skillset does not fit our team's philosophy. He also has a higher bust factor.

It seems like more so that Randolph doesn't like his PT being dicked around with as much as Nellie did in GSW..

And in fairness to Randolph, Hickson had the same questions in regards to his mental ability (whatever you want to call it) coming out...

Did you read the whole article?

"Randolph, who weighed 210 pounds last season, has added 20 pounds of muscle, according to two sources."

And if you don't think Randolph doesn't want to be great, then I don't think you've followed the NBA enough... The past two off-seasons Randolph has been getting rave reviews for how hard he's worked on his game and how much he's worked at adding weight/strength... Randolph's work ethic is the last thing that should be questioned..

And again in fairness to Randolph, coming out of college one of the concerns DraftExpress had in their profile for Hickson was his work ethic... Now JJ does seem to be more focused after his rookie season and I do think he is a hard-worker but Randolph is every bit the worked Hickson is and probably more...

I would have more faith in Randolph to his improve his jump-shot then I would Hickson... The thing that LeBron needs is a pick-and-pop partner more than anything and I'd have a lot more faith in Randolph eventually filling that than JJ... While Randolph can do that, he also can be that pick-and-roll guy that JJ is and can finish around the basket with his tremendous length and hops...

JJ definitely has more power but we've seen in the playoffs that length is the #1 thing you need these days and Randolph has that... JJ does have length to but he's only 6'8" and that's going to hinder him defensively the same way it did Jamison in the playoffs...

Based on what?

Have you seen the way Randolph can finish?

What makes Randolph have a higher bust factor? Dude works his ass off during the off-seasons, he wants to be a player in this league...

Randolph is going to have a much easier time on both ends of the floor than Hickson will in the future... Randolph is a bigger mismatch offensively and a better matchup defensively than Hickson..

BTW--how good of a finisher is a guy like Bosh inside? What about even Boozer? Both of whom would be good fits, despite not being he "power" guy like you seem to be describing...

This is not anywhere near the home run we need this offseason.

Any way to get Monta with him?

I'd like Randolph, but I'd prefer not to give up JJ. 'nuff said. If we could give something like a future second and parker, count me in.
