Interesting development, especially with already drafting Qwa and Robo..

WR to Visit Browns
by Site Staff of theOBR.com, April 28, 2009 at 3:46pm ET

Scout.com's Adam Caplan is reporting this afternoon that ex Titans and Rams WR Drew Bennett will be coming to Cleveland for a physical and a workout. Despite adding two receivers in last weekend's NFL draft, the Browns remain somewhat thin at that position.

He's a real big WR (6'5") who's pretty decent--he's not some scrub...

We'll see what happens but this is definitely interesting..

Our WR depth chart:

WR: Braylon Edwards / Mohammed Massaquoi / Josh Cribbs / Paul Hubbard / Lance Leggett
WR: Brian Robiskie / David Patten / Syndric Steptoe / DeVale Ellis

not for a lot of $ though of course..let's see how he is and see what we can get away with

I liked Bennet in Tennessee. Didnt stand out to me in STL so I cant say since Tenn.

Mangini loves big WR'ers who can catch. I'd love to get Bennett...he can be a very productive player in the right system.

He'd probably come in and take Steptoe's spot.

I wouldn't mind a WR corps consisting of: Edwards, Bennett, Robo, Massaquoi, Patten, and Cribbs. Steptoe, Leggett, Hubbard, and Ellis will all probably not make it then.

id rather spedn some cash on a better RB but thats me... he must be planning on throwing the ball a bunch

If it means I never have to say the name Syndric Steptoe again...I'm all for it.

I would hope last year's 1 catch for 4 yards performance is just a coincidence though.

I'd agree on the RB spot George...

And no I don't think we're planning to throw the ball much..

You can tell by our signings in the off-season and the change in physiques of the players we're bringing in on offense, we're bringing in smash-mouth, run-based offense that is based off of play-action...

We'll throw the ball, but I don't think we're going to turn into the Patriots or anything..

This is more for depth purposes,as well as to ease the pressure put on the two new rookies... It's unsure what we're going to get out of Patten; Hubbard, Ellis, Leggett and Steptoe are all fodder at this point; Qwa and Robo are rookies..

And b00bie: not that it means much, but the Browns re-signed Steptoe to a 1-year deal this off-season...

Hubbard, Ellis, Leggett and Steptoe are all fodder at this point;

I hope we can stash Paul Hubbard on the practice squad for another year. You can't teach 6'3" 221 who can run a 4.38 forty with a 39 1/2 vertical.

He's raw, but I really like his physical talents.

I like big receivers that can go up and get the ball or come across the middle and open the outsides for Braylon and Robiskie. Guys that aren't afraid to throw some blocks in the run game to spring a big play. I like it.

Well, forcing match up problems are key in the Erhardt-Perkins. Obviously putting a guy like Bennett on a 5'10 corner is going to pay dividends. It's a smart move. What I like here, is that assuming we add Bennett, where did all those holes go on offense? Obviously we need that young stud running back, but beyond that? We can line up 5 wide, get the opponents Nose Tackle off the field and jam JLew down peoples throats or, we can play the possession game out of the I.
I realize it's easy to get overly excited about the roster before the team ever takes the field. But, I really feel like we already have a stronger team than last year.
