WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Only matches I’m excited to see are AJ/Nakamura and the triple threat IC match. Everything is pretty much a given as to the outcome. But those two matches will steal the show.
I will like to add, I went to a Smackdown show Saturday night and AJ truly is phenomenal. After his match, he literally spend 30 minutes walking around giving high fives, shaking hands and getting pictures with people. My buddy and I and our kids were in the corner by the sound/video board and he came by and talked to us and gave my kids a five and shook their hands too. Awesome man! By this time it was past 11pm and he was still out there walking around. Surreal experience

Those are definitely my most anticipated matches as well, but I'm also looking forward to seeing Daniel Bryan return to work with Zayn and Owens, Kurt Angle facing off with Triple H. I'm a big fan of Cesaro and Sheamus, and I'm interested to see what they do with Strowman's partner, Flair/Asuka will be great, and I'm looking forward to Bobby Roode's entrance.

Also, assuming they give it 20 minutes or so, Alexander/Ali will be a great match on the pre-show.

I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but I can't deny that Reigns/Lesnar should at least be entertaining. I hate how he's been booked in his career, but there's no denying that Reigns can work a good match.

Finally, I think the Bludgeon Brothers are kind of lame (I like Luke Harper), but New Day/Usos do great things in the ring. Should be fun.

Couldn't disagree more. This is the most excited I've been for a Wrestlemania is a lot of years.

Personally, I think the card for the show is really good but the build for almost all the major feuds has been either awful or, in the case of Asuka/Charlotte and Nakamura/Styles, basically nonexistent.

I've actually enjoyed the Nakamura/Styles stuff, with Nakamura being in AJ's head, but keeping him safe for the big match.

The could have been Kinshasa last week was a pretty cool angle with AJ.

I just feel like they've been lazy with the build for that and Asuka/Charlotte because they know those are matches everyone wants to see anyway. Thus, they don't put much effort into them.

Meanwhile, they insult our intelligence with this stupid Lesnar/Reigns bullshit, and Undertaker can't even be bothered to show up for the build to his match. If he doesn't show up at 'Mania, that feud has been a massive waste of time. If he does, the build was shit. The obvious thing to do for that feud would have been to bring him back as Biker Taker and have him talk about having one last ride.

NXT Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match - The Authors of Pain vs. The Undisputed Era (c) vs. Pete Dunne and Roderick Strong
With Bobby Fish going down with injury, it appears that Adam Cole will be taking his place as O'Reilly's tag team partner. Or maybe not. He was given that option by Regal, but he as also given the option of letting O'Reilly fend for himself. I'm inclined to believe that Cole will just pull double duty. This should be a fun match. The AOP have been delivering in big matches for years now, but I think they're due for a call-up. I think the Undisputed Era retain following a Roderick Strong heel turn, and Strong ends up being one half of the tag champs to cover for Fish until he returns. Meanwhile, Cole remains the singles guy for the faction.
Winner: The Undisputed Era

NXT Women's Championship Match - Ember Moon (c) vs. Shayna Baszler

These two had a solid but not spectacular match at the last Takeover. I expect something similar here. Ember seems in line for a call-up, as she's one of the most polished, athletic women in the entire company. My guess is they go with Baszler here and move on to a Kairi/Shayna program.
Winner: Shayna Baszler

20180323_NXT_NewOrleans_EC3_Cole_Dream_Ricochet_Lars_Dain--5e56ae064df84a277e4e932ea8d26ba6.jpg

NXT North American Championship Ladder Match - EC3 vs. Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream vs. Ricochet vs. Lars Sullivan vs. Killain Dain

This should be a hell of a match. Ricochet was born to wrestle matches like this, and we get the in-ring debut of EC3 as well. It's really damn tough to figure out who is going to win this one, as I don't think any of these guys are getting called up just yet and you could make a compelling case for all six of them. I've gone back and forth on this one, but I think Cole wins following Strong joining the Undisputed Era in the tag match, giving us Cole as the NA Champ and his buddies as the tag champs.
Winner: Adam Cole

20180323_NXT_NewOrleans_Gargano_Tomasso--d8cb924ee67968fb41513645b6de1528.jpg

Unsanctioned Match - Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa

This has a pretty damn good chance of being the best match in a weekend where we'll get Aleister Black vs. Andrade Almas, Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles, the in-ring return of Daniel Bryan, Charlotte vs. Asuka, and an awesome NXT ladder match. The last time these guys went one on one, it was in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic, and it was one of the best matches of the entire tournament. This time, the build is there to make it so much more. Ciampa has been the best heel in the WWE since making his return a couple of months back. He just knows how to work a crowd and make them hate him. Gargano, in contrast, is the best pure babyface the WWE has had since Daniel Bryan. He connects with the crowd in a way no one has been able to since Bryan. This just has the makings of an incredible match. Two elite workers playing their roles to perfection, with the crowd fully invested in Gargano winning and getting his job in NXT back. Now, they could swerve us here and have Ciampa win, sending Gargano to the main roster. But I think it would be a damn shame if Gargano never holds the NXT Title (a Ciampa/Gargano title program would be incredible), so I'm picking him to win.
Winner: Johnny Gargano

NXT Championship Match - Andrade Almas vs. Aleister Black

These guys meet for the NXT Championship a year after they met in Black's debut match. Needless to say, things have changed a great deal for Almas since then. He looked to be on his way out of WWE, unhappy with his role and essentially occupying the mid-card indie jobber/coach role with guys like Kassius Ohno. A year later, Almas has become one of the best parts of NXT. Pairing him up with Vega has worked masterfully, as she can cut the promos he's incapable of while also helping him get heat when she interferes in his matches. This is another match that is incredibly difficult to call, as both of these guys are basically ready to be called up. Given the role they gave Almas in the Royal Rumble, though, I'm inclined to believe it's his time, and we should be seeing him on either 205 Live or Raw/Smackdown next week. And 205 Live no longer feels like a death sentence.
Winner: Aleister Black

---

This is just a damn good card. It's hard to see any of these matches being disappointing. I suspect we'll see NXT's streak of outperforming the main roster PPV it's paired with continue for at least another few months.

For anyone interested, here's the stream of the Impact vs. Lucha Underground event from last night:

Not gonna lie...marked out at the Scott Steiner appearance.

Best twitch comment was during the Aerostar match. "Jim Cornette would have a stroke watching this." :chuckle::chuckle::chuckle:

NXT North American Championship Ladder Match - Ethan Carter III vs. Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream vs. Ricochet vs. Lars Sullivan vs. Killain Dain

This should be a hell of a match. Ricochet was born to wrestle matches like this, and we get the in-ring debut of Carter as well. It's really damn tough to figure out who is going to win this one, as I don't think any of these guys are getting called up just yet and you could make a compelling case for all six of them. I think the smartest choice would be Ricochet. He's new, the crowd loves him, and he's a workhorse in the ring. Plus, if Black wins the NXT Title, Cole and ECIII would be the most fitting heel challengers.
Winner: Ricochet

Got a party going at my place tonight and a good chunk of my friends are wrestling fans, so def putting this on tonight. When Gargano debuted I was a big fan (and used to watch him late night on a local Ohio promotion when he was champ), and I told my friend he'd be the next Daniel Bryan. He said that was crazy. Now, he's legit being built as the next Bryan imo. Awesome stuff.

Yeah, he's got basically all the same intangibles that Bryan has, and I think he might be even better in the ring. He's one of the few pure babyfaces around, but he's capable of working the snake heel role as well (although it may be a while before we see that in WWE). He just gets crowds to connect with him, and he can back it up by having fantastic matches with just about anyone, from much bigger guys like the AOP to guys the same size as him like Almas.

I fully expect Gargano/Ciampa to be the best match of the weekend.

Also, I've revised my predictions a bit to have Cole win the NA Title. I think Strong finally turns heel and joins the Undisputed Era in the tag match and he ends up being O'Reilly's partner until Fish gets back. They can then put the NA Title on Cole and all three guys can hold gold.

Well, that was fucking awesome. NXT just seems to outdo itself at every damn event.

The heat Ciampa gets is unreal. It's borderline impossible to get that kind of heat while being a performer on the level that Ciampa is in modern wrestling. I loved the decision to have him come out without music and just soak in the boos.

That match was exactly the five star classic I expected it to be. It was somehow 37 minutes long and felt like half that.

Wrestlemania Women's Battle Royal
Seems the main build here has been Bayley/Sasha. Thus, I think it comes down to those two, with Sasha ultimately finally turning fucking heel like she should have two years ago. I could also see a debuting Ember Moon winning if they want to go with a fresh face, but I'll stick with Sasha for this one.
Winner: Sasha Banks

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Who the hell knows with this one? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the past winners, and they never seem to do much with the guys who win either, which makes the whole event completely pointless. That said, I think this one will come down to Matt Hardy and a returning Brother Nero, with Jeff turning on his brother and winning.
Winner: Jeff Hardy

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match - Cedric Alexander vs. Mustafa Ali

Let's just all spend a moment appreciating the fact that we live in a day and age when WWE has a character named Mustafa Ali that isn't an evil foreign heel. Progress! That said, I think this is Alexander's moment.
Winner: Cedric Alexander

Raw Women's Championship - Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Nia Jax

I just can't bring myself to give a shit about this one. I think Nia wins, or loses by DQ when she destroys Bliss too hard. Either way, I don't really give a fuck.
Winner: Nia Jax

20180323_WM34_BarBraun--84f515ac74889fa8e4768ea4efbb0d1a.jpg

Raw Tag Team Championship: The Bar (c) vs. Braun Strowman & TBD

No idea where they're going with Strowman's partner, but I think Braun ends up champ at the end of the match.
Winner: Braun Strowman & TBD

WWE United States Championship: Bobby Roode vs. Randy Orton (c) vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Rusev

I think we can all agree that Rusev winning the title on Rusev Day would be a true Wrestlemania moment.
Winner: Rusev

20180323_WM34_Miz_Finn_Seth--112d27153dccf26787dc8248d2882e11.jpg

WWE Intercontinental Championship: The Miz (c) vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins

I'm guessing Miz will be taking some time off after this match to be with his wife and new child, and I also think Rollins will be moving up toward the main event after 'Mania. That leaves us with Balor, who is due for a title reign.
Winner: Finn Balor

---

20180327_WM34_UsosNewDay--38b91ec9fdac103e58b16722a37a8b7f.jpg

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Usos (c) vs. The New Day

Feels like the Bludgeon Brothers are the only ones who really need this win. They're the up-and-coming team and have been dominating.
Winner: The Bludgeon Brothers

---

20180323_WM34_Asuka_Charlotte--48bb58b6b903bd750243db6da3540822.jpg

Smackdown Women's Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Asuka

Asuka's streak has been doing on for damn near three years now, and it's hard to see it ending tonight.
Winner: Asuka

---

20180327_WM34_OwensZaynDbShane--abd638a851dd4835b59cb2ab5a1e015d.jpg

Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

While it seems crazy that Bryan could lose his return match, I think there are some shenanigans in play here that lead to Owens and Zayn picking up the win and regaining their jobs.
Winner: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

---

Not a lot of drama in this one, is there?
Winner: Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey

---

The Undertaker vs. John Cena

I don't think a match actually happens here. Rather, I think they have a confrontation where Undertaker lays out Cena, leading to their actual match at next year's 'Mania.
Winner: The Undertaker (sort of)

---

20180323_WM34_AJ_Styles_Nakamura--d08583b96e04cf9243df899808ea2196.jpg

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

This is a tough one to call, but ultimately it's hard for me to see them putting the top men's and women's titles on Smackdown on people who can barely speak English. Since I have Asuka winning her match, I'm going to go with AJ here.
Winner: AJ Styles

---

20180323_WM34_Lesnar_Reigns--f92b843c4ed83f621e63324cacbf3fc8.jpg

Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Roman Reigns

#lolreignswins
Winner: Roman Reigns

Im calling American Badass Undertaker makes his return tonight.

White Walker Seth Rollins was pretty cool. Kind of disappointed we didn't get Demon Balor.

I forgot when I made my predictions that Vince hates the fans.
Only bad one is Mahal winning. Seriously, his WWE title run was miserable, and didn't increase interest in India like they had hoped. Just send this guy back to jobberville.

New Day may have just had the most ridiculous entrance I've ever seen
