Yahoo: Shaq’s shadow threatens to eclipse Howard

For Howard, there’s no escaping Shaq now. After losing to the Magic in the Eastern Conference finals, the Cavaliers traded for O’Neal to help them better match up with Howard. The rivalry between the two centers escalated last season when O’Neal accused Howard of hijacking his Superman title and claimed he had already “invented” everything Howard had done.

“I haven’t spoken with him,” Howard said. “I’ve seen a lot of the comments that he has said on TV and read a lot of the comments that he’s made. I would say it hurt my feelings, a little bit, just to hear him say some of the things he said.”

Yeah true. Howard is a douche and Shaq has done it all already. But I mean, It has got to hurt Howard a little that Shaq doesnt like him, cause Howard had to look up to Shaq when he was a kid.

I can understand where Howard is coming from though. Shaq is the most dominant big man of all-time and someone Howard idolized when he was growing up. Shaq seems a little bitter in that Howard is doing what he used to do when he just came into the league.

With that said, Shaq is correct in everything he said about Howard. Shaq has done everything Howard is doing and he's done it better. Shaq is the original superman but he didn't really play into that role as much as Howard has recently simply because Shaq had too much personalities going on and that he didn't want to be stuck with just one....a la Howard and his obsession with Superman.

I'm pretty sure superstars like Kobe, Lebron or KG would be pissed if 10 or 15 years from now, some NBA star proclaimed himself as the Black Mamba, King James or the Big Ticket.

Howard should've just put on a Little Mermaid costume and dunked the ball as it would've been more impressive to see somebody dunk with flippers for legs. Or simply a Might Mouse costume would've suffice and Shaq would've left him alone.

Honestly I was a fan of Howard who, to me, seemed very classy and like a very fun loving and genuine individual...until we got beat by the Magic in the ECF and a new rivalry was born. Now I can't like him, but nothing in those quotes implies douchiness to me.

delonte west and ron artest are genuinely funny...dwight howard tries way too hard and isnt (plus his whole act is based off shaq)

I had already this article and really didn't see anything too noteworthy about it except for the fact he said in another part of it to the effect that they have one of the two best Guards in the NBA now, in Vince Carter. Ummm, Dwight, so which guy did you just slight? Kobe or DWade? I mean, seriously, Dwight. Vince is not better than either one of these guys. Not even close. I could argue he's not even top 5, seeing as he didn't even specifically say SG.

Dont kid yourself, vince is very good. With rashard and howard in the linup along with nelson, that is a very formidable team. This is by far the most talented team vince has played with.

Yep. People keep saying that we can take care of him on D, but we focused on shutting him down on the nets, without a lot of other threats. We still have Rashard and Howard and Nelson to contend with.
