WEWS NewsChannel5 weekend sports anchor Terry Brooks accused of rape, kidnapping

CLEVELAND - WEWS NewsChannel5 weekend sports anchor Terry Brooks was indicted Wednesday on charges of rape, attempted rape and kidnapping, the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office said.

Prosecutor Bill Mason said that between Sept. 1 and Sept. 14, 2009, a 21-year-old woman went to Jack's Sports Bar in South Euclid with Brooks.

"Instead of taking her home, Terry Brooks took her to his residence in South Euclid. He raped her and dropped her back off at Jack's Sports Bar to get her car," Mason said in a statement.

South Euclid police began an investigation in January, when the alleged rape was reported. The indictment includes one count of kidnapping, four counts of rape and four counts of attempted rape.

Brooks was placed on a leave of absence from the station during the investigation.

WEWS General Manager Sam Rosenwasser released the following statement:

"We learned late on Tuesday of the Cuyahoga County prosecutor's interest in legal action surrounding the alleged activity of Terry Brooks. Any hint of improper conduct by our employees is taken very seriously by the station and its management team. We will cooperate fully and completely with all investigating authorities in the interest of a resolution that is fair and just for all parties involved. At this time, we have placed Terry Brooks on a leave of absence until the facts are determined and we can evaluate his future with the station."

Yikes indeed! Hoping this is not true and that he'll be back to work soon. If it is true, off to jail with him!
 
I always thought Terry Brooks seemed like a great guy... then again, I thought that about O.J. Simpson too. :(
 
Hey...at least he dropped her off. A total nut job would have made her walk to her car from South Euclid.

I bet he gets a Fox reality show if he is cleared.
 
Met him a few times, seemed like a cool guy, I just like the way Channel 5 put this picture up for him, with a big red breaking news box above his head :

Let's see now:

You have a date with a woman in September. You have sex with her. You then take her back to her car.

3 months later same woman claims rape and kidnapping.

hm

Sketchy? Sketchy doesn't begin to describe this. I would think if a woman is kidnapped, then raped, that woman reports this almost immediately. But gosh golly; what do I know? Sounds like a woman scorned to me.

I can't tell you how many times I went to a bar while in college and came back with a woman. Never once did a woman claim later on that I raped her. I guess they certainly can though. If they do, the man is then suspended from his job with no other proof than a woman's say so? Oh my.
 
Due to the last time rape was brought up on this forum and the argument that ensued, I will be avoiding comment on this issue completely.
 
At first guess, I'd have to say that these charges are baseless. The report was not reported until January, after they allegedly occurred in September.... A hell of a long time to report a rape.

Even if these charges are true, it will be hard to prove with a complete lack of physical evidence because of the long wait.

Terry Brooks is a good author. He wrote Hook amongst other good books. Oh crap, wrong dude, sorry.
