Delonte has a new players mailbox up at cavs.com.

Just as entertaining, hilarious, and thoughtful as the last time.

Hi Everybody, thanks for sending in all your questions and kind words. I'd love to be able to answer all of you...below are the answers to as many as I could get to. Thanks for supporting the team...see you at The Q soon.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Hey Delonte, I play guard for my school's girls basketball team and the boys always laugh at us because they score more points than we do. So, have you ever been beaten by a girl in a 1-on-1 game?

First Name: Myntah
City: Boston
State: MA

Delonte:: No, I never have. But I’m also sure that there are some very capable females who could beat me one-one-one.

The biggest difference is just the strength issue. But as far as skill goes, women have the same skills that men have. And as the years go by, females are developing more and more athletically. You’re seeing more and more females dunk the basketball. So because you can’t beat me, don’t let that deter you from being the best you can be.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: How do you decide the “real” from the “fake” with all the people you have around you?!?!

First Name: Tanisha
City: Atlanta
State: GA

Delonte: Consistency. I’m not trying to judge anybody, but if someone betrays who they are, time will tell. Between the trials and tribulations, it’s the consistency of people that tells you who’s real and who isn’t.

Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. As long as you stay the same, it’ll come back around.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: What was your dream car growing up? And what kind of car do you have now? My dream car is still a Shelby GT.

First Name: Ryan
City: Parma
State: Ohio

Delonte: My dream car growing up was a ’96 Impala SS – black on black. (I got one on the way now.)

Right now, I have a bunch of old school rides. I have a ’71 orange Chevelle – call it “Tropicana Orange Juice” It’s got flames on the side with 496 engine in it. I got a ’69 Impala – bowling ball black with white and black interior. And I got a ’63 Cadillac Coupe Deville – cherry red with gansta whitewalls and a cherry red interior with a diamond in the back and a sun-roof top. It’s nice.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Hey Delonte, who would you consider your best friend in the NBA?

First Name: Matt
City: Columbia station
State: Ohio

Delonte: Well, I have a lot of friends. The NBA is like a fraternity – once you’re in, everybody kind of knows everybody. Of course, when you’re on the floor, there’s never any friends outside your teammates. But the way this league is – guys getting bounced around – you’ve played with guys or you know each other from college. But everyone kind of knows everyone.

But as far as best friends go, my best friends are my brother and my little sister. And my mom and dad. And my other little brother. My family are my best friends.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: It seems like there's a lot of chirping going on during every NBA game. My question is, in the entire NBA, who are two or three of the biggest trash talkers on the court?

First Name: Paul
City: Rochester
State: New York

Delonte: I would say Kevin Garnett. It used to be Gary Payton. I played one year in Boston with Gary Payton and he can chirp. So, top three would be KG, Gary Payton and Sam Cassell. Sometimes it’s just fun; sometimes it’s not so nice. It depends on the situation. Either way, those guys are always chirping.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Dr. Redbush: I'm going to Europe in a couple weeks with my cousins and I wanted to see if you had any suggestions on how to attract some fine foreign ladies. I can't dance and I'm broke. Please give me your expert advice on this difficult issue.

First Name: Pat
City: University Heights
State: OH

Delonte: Well, it’s never been the money. The money don’t matter. The money don’t make you. You can have all the money in the world, but if you’re lame, you’ll just be lame with money.

As far as the dancing goes – you’re going to have to work on that, brother. Females watch you dance and, subconsciously, they’re thinking about the way you move a little later on that night. So you’ve got to learn the two-step. Learn the two-step and stick with it. You can change it up for every song. You can speed it up or slow it down, but stick with the same two-step. That’s something that translates in any country.

And if you’re broke, one more thing – besides working on your two-step, which is important – you got to work on your game and your “mouthpiece.” If your mouthpiece is strong, she’ll give you some money.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Hey Delonte, who's your favorite superhero?

First Name: Asim
City: Chicago
State: IL

Delonte: Let’s see … Who’s cold-blooded? I’m not a Superman guy. I’m not a Batman guy, but I like the Joker. (Is he a superhero?) The Joker’s always been cold. I like when Jack Nicholson did the Joker – he had that certain flair to him. The Joker – man, you can never go wrong with the Joker.

But if you need a true superhero, I’d say Wolverine from the X-Men. He’s a superhero, but he did his own thing. He never wanted to be with the in-crowd, even though the X-Men wanted him to be with the in-crowd.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: For as funny as you are, D-West, whose humor do you look to for a laugh?

First Name: Ian
City: Amherst
State: OH

Delonte: I’m a big stand-up fan, so I always watch Cat Williams when he comes on. Mike Epps is great. And I can always go back to my throwbacks. When all else fails, I can throw on either some Martin or some early Eddie Murphy stand-up. (And any movie those guys are in; you can’t lose with those.) Oh, and I almost forget Dave Chapelle. I’ll watch any of those guys doing anything. Mike Epps, Cat Williams, Martin, Dave Chapelle or Eddie Murphy.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: What is the sport you hate the most?

First Name: Nathanial
City: Cleveland
State: Ohio

Delonte: I don’t hate anything. It’s not for me to judge because somebody else might love it. Somebody out there might hate basketball, and I have a deep passion for it. And others have deep passions about what they do. So I don’t knock anything people want to do.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Hi Delonte! Are you into video games? I love the Resident Evil and Street Fighter games. What are your favorites?

First Name: Adanna
City: Atlanta
State: Georgia

Delonte: I don’t play sports games. I play “Halo” on X-Box. And I play "Mortal Combat” on PS3. And I play “Guitar Hero.” (I play guitar and drums.)

I’m a very competitive person, so as far as sports games … no one needs me to be throwing the remote control at the TV or yanking their game system out the wall. I prefer the fighting games, the action games where you don’t have to think too much. I play “Vice City” and, what’s that game where they just go around vandalizing stuff? “Grand Theft Auto” – I play that, too.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Hi Delonte, I was wondering, who has the best dance moves on the team? You seem like you would be a real good dancer!

First Name: Shawna
City: Westlake
State: Ohio

Delonte: I am a good dancer. I stay with my two-step for any type of hip-hop songs. I grew up watching Hand Dancing – watching my mother and my uncles do some Hand Dancing. I learned it as a youngster – how to spin the young ladies. It always surprises the ladies when I grip them up and spin them on the floor.

But as far as modern dances, you are not going to catch me doing the Stinky Leg. I ain’t doing no Stinky Leg.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Delonte, the Cleveland Browns' Josh Cribbs has his on television show on FSN Ohio. I think you having your own TV show would be awesome and way more entertaining. Have you ever thought about it?

First Name: Nick
City: Wadsworth
State: Ohio

Delonte: I have thought about it. I just don’t know the procedure or the steps to go about doing it. But that’s something I’m definitely interested in. Just a camera following me around and the people I interact with on a day-to-day basis. I’m really a combination of all them.

It might be cool to show me with my family. I’m the least funniest person in my family.  When I go home, I just sit on the couch and don’t talk. I’m the quiet one in my family. My mom’s funnier, my brother’s funnier and so are my uncles. Every day, it’s Comedy Hour around the house.

----------------------------------------------------

Question: Delonte, I am a teacher of boys with behavioral issues. I see them get very frustrated when they are unable to do things they want or if they are not good at something. What do you do to keep yourself positive?

First Name: Teresa
City: Akron
State: Ohio

Delonte: I don’t get rattled because I practice my exercises to control my temper. I’m very familiar with what you’re saying because I was the same type of student. Being bipolar and having anger issues growing up, I’m very familiar with what you’re talking about.

You have to counsel your mind and basically, you have to grow up. Anger is always an easy emotion for a young man to revert back to if things aren’t going their way. Anger’s easy to understand. You have happiness – which you understand. And you have sadness and anger. A baby only understands how to cry when he’s hurt or upset – that’s the only expression he has.

You should encourage them to work on their other emotions. Don’t be afraid to be an emotional being. You have more than just happiness, sadness and anger. You have understanding and other emotions to work off of.

Expand who you are, and you’ll grow as a person. Challenge yourself to work out difficult situations in other ways, make anger your last resort – and you’ll be cool.

Every time I hear this guy talk I like him more. He seems to have a lot more depth than your typical athlete. Great stuff.

Definitely has a lot more depth than other athletes ...well what we are allowed to see with other athletes. Another guy who is a great role model and depth guy is Torry Holt. A great person.

I wonder if he was being funny by saying he was the least funny person. I could see him easily being the biggest comedian.

Delonte is pretty funny. I can just hear him answering those.

They definitely need to film an Access Cavaliers piece that visits Delonte's house and talks to the relatives to check that out.

Is it like an Eddie Murphy movie? Dr. Delonte? The Nutty Professor Redbush? :chuckles:

Greatest. Quote. Ever.

That's just a great answer. It's some great insight into his character. I also loved his last answer referencing his struggle with bipolar disorder and how to work through it. This guy is a great role model whether he intends to be or not. My wife teaches many HS students that have similar issues and I would love for her to introduce them to Delonte's story. Doesn't matter if you like the team or not but it's hard not to root for someone like this.

That was a fantastic read. He seems like a very genuine, down to earth person.

I can see how the Cavs have such great chemistry when you have people like Delonte in the locker room. He truly seems like a nice guy who's a bit silly and having a good time. He has his issues like most people and has learned to deal with them. I was pleasantly surprised by his level of wisdom.

My hats off to the organization for bringing in individuals like him. He's a good ballplayer, who's getting better as time goes on, and just has a great attitude.

Great read. Seems like a genuinely good person.

Articles like this make it easy to see why we arguably have the best chemistry in the leagues. Its easy to like people like Delonte. When someone is as passionate about basketball and the world around him as he is; its easy to be around the locker room with him.

Has anyone ever seen the Delonte interview with the Celtics? It has to be one of the strangest and most hilarious things I have ever seen. These are some quotes:

"Twenty years from now, you're going to see me riding in a drop top hummer buck naked with some ankle socks on and a headband on — Boston Celtics headband on — standing up driving from Boston to California. That’s what I’m going to be doing."

"I like to paint murals of the ocean that I see beyond the horizon, because I feel if — in order for us to grow, we gotta know. In order to love the brother man, you gotta know the other man. One fish, two fish. Red fish, blue fish. Knick knack, paddy whack, give a dog a bone. Ding."

"You can't kill a G. Bugs Bunny is a G. I want to be Bugs Bunny. I would pay to be Bugs Bunny for one day."

He was either under the influence of something or just messing with the interviewer that day, either way from the moment I saw that, I knew Delonte was one of the funniest guys I have ever heard speak.

thanks. reading a delonte west mailbag has become one of my favorite activities.

That's what I first thought when I read it. He's like Ghandi, but better... he plays for the Cavs.

On a side note, I feel bad for his other brother.

But as far as best friends go, my best friends are my brother and my little sister. And my mom and dad. And my other little brother. My family are my best friends.
