In this glorious installment, Terry prays that the Cavs don't lose at home. Lose the series...to Terry that's basically a given. But please God...not at home.

'm trying not to be depressed about the Cavs . . . but guess what?

I'm not winning that battle.

I know that no playoff series is ever over when LeBron James is on your team until . . . the last shot bangs off the rim and the final buzzer blares.

But that's how it's been for the Cavs, who are behind Orlando 3-1 in these best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals. They've lost two games by grand total of three points, including Tuesday's demoralizing 116-114 verdict in overtime.

James is having a series for the ages, scoring 42 points per game and making more than 50 percent of his shots. When the Cavs star says he's not tired, that he's "up to the challenge" for Game 5 Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena, I believe him.

But I wonder how a team with "One Goal" as its slogan feels today, the One Goal certainly not being to reach the Eastern Conference Finals and be eliminated at home.

But I'm going to just stop here and just say it: I don't want the Cavs to end their season on the home court.

I'm not going to conjure up all the ghosts that have haunted this town's sports franchises since the 1964 champion Cleveland Browns. I'll just say that I am tired of silent stadiums and hushed arenas when it is so quiet you can hear the breaking of your own sports heart.

Well...that oughtta fire the boys up. Kinda like when Knute Rockne fired up Notre Dame by saying the immortal words "Don't lose when the Gipper's dying. That would be a total bummer. I hope you guys don't go out there and suck just before the Gipper kicks"

Moo

Yeah, I saw this.

Terry's usually pretty good.

I was bothered to read this.

Where's our man, Bob Finnan ??

He's a little dry personality wise (not really a TV guy, per say, but I like his style)..

Get us something positive, Robert...

The only way this series isn't over is if we get performances out of Lebron James that top what he has done so far and a little help from the others. I'm talking, like when MJ scored 63 in the Boston Garden and lost type of performances. Like, LBJ needs to find a way to break 50 a couple times with a few other guys cracking double digits. If he can find a way to go off like that, we'll make it interesting.

I wanna add that it was a good blippet, especially the final paragraph by TP. He, unlike Windhorst; can at least write.

I don't think that's going to happen. Here's his blog entry from this morning. I think it's fair to say that the local journalists have pretty much written off the team.

It seems like a few of them want to be right (about Orlando being a tough matchup) more than anything. Kind-of a bummer, but what anyone says and writes doesn't matter at this point. What matters will happen on the court tomorrow.

Season of dreams almost over

You don't need me to tell you the Cavs are in major trouble.

Admit it, we've all seen signs of this happening in the Eastern Conference finals.

I tried to caution everyone that would listen that this could happen against Orlando. Well, the Magic are up 3-1 and have a chance to close it out on Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena.

Since 1947, teams that have a 3-1 lead have won 182 of 190 series. For those of you who don't have a calculator, that's 95.6 percent of the time.

The Cavs might win Game 5, but the Magic are a better team. They have too many weapons, too many deadly shooters and the best big man in the game. It adds up to a possible championship team.

But this was supposed to be the Cavs' year. They have the best player in the league, the best record in the league and set a bushel full of franchise records. What does it all mean? Not a thing if the Magic go to the NBA Finals.

The Cavs have said all season that if they don't win the title, it will be a disappointing season. The way it's coming to an end, there's going to be much disappointment.

The Cavs have been grasping at straws for a couple games. They've tried every defensive tactic possible. He's tried Sasha Pavlovic and now Wally Szczerbiak off the bench. Nothing has worked.

And, now, the season is close to being over. It's going to be difficult to put a capper on the 2008-09 season, but it's almost here, like it or not.

I will not go down on either one of them. No thank you.

Thing is, when we win tomorrow their views on the series will magically change, and when we win in Orlando all the writers will be saying how they knew we'd win all along.

I gotta be honest:

It does irritate me when these guys do this. I understand it's their job to write things as they see them, but there comes a point when IMO you have a responsibility to keep your fanbase entertained. I'm not saying they need to write fluff pieces, nor am I asking them to be dishonest. What I'm saying is that sometimes these guys need to suck it up on behalf of the fanbase and say,

"You know what guys. This sucks. This sucks big time. We thought this might happen and it has. But you know what...this team can come back and win it. Miami did it in the Finals, the Suns did it just 3 years ago. This series isn't over until it's over. Go to the games and scream for the Cavs because you never, ever know..."

Nothing wrong with throwing that out there instead of all the negative nancy bullshit these guys are currently spewing.

Just my thoughts...

Terry Pluto is a coward.

He wants to blow up the ship and run away.

Do you honestly believe from what you saw in game's 1-4 that the Cavs have a shot at winning this series? They don't because they're being realists.

Maybe some home cooking will make up Mo.

I deplore Pluto's writing style. His constant pathos gets on my nerves.

At least Windhorst has the balls to point out what other teams are doing.

This is Lebron's chance to elevate himself. His team is failing him, and he is technically doing everything he can, but it still isn't enough. We can win tomorrow with the way he has been playing, and I think we will, but on Saturday, he needs to elevate himself like never before. It's time for LeBron to channel game 5 against Detroit, but with even greater intensity. It's time for Lebron to get SELFISH. On Saturday, if we win tomorrow, I want to see LeBron go for 55, 60+, and show that Magic team who Lebron James really is. Take no prisoners Lebron. We all know he can do it. The question is, will he?
