Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Clevinger was moving into pushing Kluber as the second best starter.

The only possible silver lining will be his return to full health and back in
the rotation by August. A fresh power arm for a push to the World
Series would be like making a big trade.

Early to start worrying about Jose Ramirez? He's off in the same ditch
we saw the last couple of months last year. His current OPS ranks
179th in MLB, 1 point ahead of teammate Roberto Perez. It's like
something from that 50s' movie 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers.'

Kluber was already our 3rd best starter last year in my opinion

At this point, we may just have to operate under the assumption that Clev won't return this season. The plan is likely to have either Rodriguez, Hu or Anderson fill in as the fifth starter until Salazar can actually throw a pitch in a big league game again. If/when Salazar returns, I have to imagine he'll stay in the rotation and the club will look elsewhere for help in the pen come July.

It’s a pipe dream, but could you imagine if he came back to his previous form?
That’s likely why they kept him around- just for that possibility.

Well just looking at the second half of the year, we should have Salazar, Zimmer, and Clev back, so at least that way they got some guys coming back for the stretch run. Also we will make a trade to fill in whatever hole we have on the roster. I think they will have a very good year overall record wise, but it won't be super pretty

Of all things I'm most fascinated by the "Salazar in the pen" experiment. I think this is the right move for both him and the team and I'm curious to see how it plays out.

His stuff is electric when he is healthy, but he has trouble staying off the DL. We are all hoping that if we cut down his innings, that it will allow him to stay healthy. If he can be a solid reliever I am okay with that since his stuff is so good!

Any idea when Salazar is due back?

I think there is next to no chance he is ready by mid-May. July would be a safer bet

That was the update from the end of March, so its going to be hard to say when, but hopefully he should be back towards the end of the summer.

I’m not old enough to remember a healthy Salazar. I’ve heard tales from my dad, but those were passed down through generations it’s hard to really believe they were accuarate at this point

$4.5 million for that guy. What a waste.
