Your Cleveland Cavaliers.. NBA CHAMPIONS!!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I feel so happy that even though Draymond was amazing tonight he still mightve cost the Dubs this series

As someone who can usually express myself and articulate my thoughts pretty well, I'm at a loss for words to accurately describe how I feel right now. This will be long so consider yourself warned.

For many, this was just a game. Just a sport, and just some Sunday night entertainment. But for those from Northeast Ohio, it is so much more. Cleveland is often the butt of all jokes, the "Mistake on the Lake", a city that caught a river on fire, and somewhere that people only like if they are from there. We have documentaries about our failures in sports - The Shot, the Drive, the Fumble, Red Right 88, Jose Mesa, the Decision... the list goes on. If you are 50 years old, before tonight Cleveland hadn't won in your entire lifetime. Over 3 sports, that's about 150 combined years. Cubs have their drought. Red Sox had theirs, but other teams in those cities were winning. All we had was disappointment across all sports. This began to become a reflection of the city as a whole to many outsiders. The city was always 2nd place in everything - not just sports.

Cleveland is a blue collar, hard working city. A rust belt city that has suffered greatly with its economy for awhile now. But within the city has been a passionate sense of community and rabid following of their sports teams. For a lot of us, sports were an escape. They were also a chance to bond with family and friends.

My dad raised me going to games and cheering for Cleveland even though we never won. He always said when we finally did win it would be the most rewarding experience a sports fan could imagine. He was right, and I'm so thankful to have spent Father's day with him today cheering on our WORLD CHAMPION CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!

This one was for the fans and the fathers like my dad who used things like Cleveland sports to teach us life lessons about never giving up, always believing, always working hard, having patience, and maintaining your pride.

The fact that one of our own from Northeast Ohio delivered this championship under near impossible circumstances makes it even more fitting. LeBron's legacy is complete at this point. Cleveland fans, this is for you! I've waited 26 years for this, and a lot of you waited twice as long. But we're finally here, and in the end it has little to do with sports anymore - but instead everything to do with the spirit and community of a city that finally got what they deserved!

Never forget where you came from and always be proud!

"In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given. Everything is earned. You work for what you have."
- LeBron James
