Your favorite sports moments of 2000-2009

I'll never forget the 2003 NBA Draft Lottery, the only night in my life that I found out what it must feel like for a Cleveland team to win a championship. Still in high school at the time, I must have run around my house 10 times screaming. My mom told me to hush up, of course.

That night I felt so proud to be a Clevelander when I saw this:

That night I felt so proud to be a Clevelander when I saw this:

I had a great moment related to this as well. It wasn't the actual draft, but the day that that magic ping pong ball bounced our way in the lottery.

That evening, I was sitting in a bar in Washington state. I was unemployed (the company that I worked at had recently closed due to bankruptcy). I didn't really have any prospects. I had moved to Washington from NE Ohio a few years before for this job, so I was thousands of miles away from home. Needless to say, I was a little depressed.

There I am, 32 years old at the time, sitting in a bar that is completely empty, watching Sports Center and throwing back some beers. I see that we got the Number One overall pick, and suddenly I was happy as could be. I wanted to talk to someone about it, but the place was empty and the bartender was a prick. I didn't carry a cell phone back then, or I would have started calling my family and friends.

I knew we would pick LeBron, as I had seen the ESPN coverage of LeBron playing in high school and had read some of the hype. I felt like God actually smiled on Cleveland for a change. I made up my mind to move back to NE Ohio (a decision over which I had been sitting on the fence).

Even though I was alone, it was a great sports moment for me. It will be even better once we win the championship this season.

Really???? Really people???? How could nobody recognize that NCAA Mens BBAll game between UCONN and the ORANGEMEN??? 6OT's???? Greatest game i've watched in my whole life(17 years old). Plz People......

That 02 Fiesta Bowl between Ohio State and Miami was absolutely insane... I was the only person in my house that stayed up to watch, everyone else had given up and went to bed... needless to say, they about shit themselves when they saw the front page of the Plain Dealer the next morning.


Although they didn't win it all, the 06-07 postseason will always hold a special place in my heart. They beat their [at the time] archrivals and went where no Cavalier team had ever gone before.

It just happened to involve an opposing player.

I was at game 3 (the first home game) of those finals........the atmosphere was insane. $350 per ticket and that was near center court upper-deck (gives ya an idea of the value of the raffle tickets this year). I would love to go to the finals winning game.

If Lakers fans do it then they are sore losers. If Cleveland fans do it than we are passionite about are team. Thats just how I roll I guess.
