Z. My new favorite Cav

With Drew and Z showing up we are a very tough team for the Nets. The key for us in beating the Nets is to contain Jefferson. Carter is going to get his points, Kidd will get score big on certain nights but Jefferson is the guy that we can and need to hold in check.

On top of Z and Drew going down low hopefully Lebron looks to post up against the Nets because they couldn't stop him in the last game. I also look for Sasha to pick it up again in the next round. He hasn't had a great series but he's still very talented and is adjusting to playoff basketball. Although that shouldn't be too hard seeing how he didn't get many fouls called in his favor during the season.

A healthy Z is a factor against any team...as long as they use him. MB must stay big and force the opposition to deal with our size at every position and it starts with our multitalented 7'3 center. Also it is impossible to be a productive NBA center injury free for this long after all those surgeries without a rigorous and consistent conditioning program. Z has earned my respect. Go Z!

Z was perhaps the series MVP. Never thought I would type that.

Its sooooo good to see Z and the reaction of his teammates ending Game 4

I will say it

Z was the MVP of this series

Some of those doubters are very very quiet. The silence is deafening in fact.

I've read that a few times that Z doesn't work out in the off season. He was the only Cavalier to work out all winter long at the Q. He might not be doing sprints but no other Cavalier can say they trained harder to get ready for this season then Ilgauskas.

If he's not running, he can't stay in anything close to game shape.

This is evidenced by the *FACT* that he always starts slow. Not just this season like Mike Brown haters seem to believe, but every season since he came back.

This is another example showing that you dont know what youre talking about.

You dont miss the years of career Z has and then go 4 years without any kind of foot problem without taking care of your body.

Z's problem this year was the lack of getting the ball. He wasnt involved in the offense at all to begin the year. he had a hard time finding his groove in that crap system. It had nothing to do with injuries or any of the nonsense you wrote. His touches are way way down from previous years.

It's consistently taken him 20 games to get in to game shape. He's often not on his game due to fatigue issues and of course his teammates can tell. I can tell. Why can't you?

End of story.

So no, Michael Young you condescending p***k. I *do* know what I'm talking about. I've read all the reports of how Z prepares for the season. I've witnessed how he's started out every season. I've seen how his effective spin move becomes a travel when "he's not feeling it". I've even proven it statistically.

Like usual, you've got nothing... and your bias stinks.

I'm with the condescending p***k on this one, and so are the *FACTS*.

Last year he averaged a point under and a rebound more then his season averages in his first 10 games.

The year before that he averaged damn near 17 points and 8.5 boards in his first 10 games. Including 5 games of over 20 points. Hell the very first game of the season he scored 35 points and grabbed 18 boards.

This year was, like it was pointed out earlier is the statistical anomaly. Z went from being the 2nd option to being lost in the offensive scheme.

Jon, it is really you who's bias stinks.

As Ben said, this year was the only year that you can say Z's stats were down to start the year. We had a new offense, he wasnt the first, or second option.

The reports are there, the guy is the hardest worker on the Cavs roster.

And it doesnt matter if you are running or not, you don't get into game shape until you start playing the games.

Jon, why the need to call out myoung

Your anger veiled in this martydom campaign for Mike brown is way played out

please don't bring your beef with the mods at Scout here

I am as disappointed as many what that place has turned into , but I'd like to see better here

we should be celebrating Z's accomplishments during the playoffs rather than re-igniting some petty fued

Condescending Pr**k....

Does that mean it points up or down?

The only thing that was condescending was Z looking down on Etan and Haywood all series long.

Moo

Except his season average is misleading because of the injuries and dropoff at the end of the year. Here's last year by the first 3 months:

05/06: Nov 14.2 PPG, Dec 16.9, Jan 17.5

Ooops

The problem with just looking at Z's stats is that as long as he stands 7'3" tall he's going to score on put backs and easy layups. He's also going to hit his FT's. What that doesn't tell you though is how is his jumper falling? Is he able to make a post move without travelling? Is he fighting for good position on the blocks? Is he able to get out and show on a P&R? How much energy does he have left in the 2nd half? How is he holding up on the back-to-backs?

Every year starts out the same on the boards with Z with the Z-haters proclaiming he's washed up and terrible and the Z-defenders looking for any scrap to excuse him. Every year.

I'm not bringing "my beef" here. Michael Young is bringing his attitude here and I don't appreciate it. He just can't be bothered to support his opinions, but that's never stopped him from tossing out insults and acting condescending - and this isn't the first time he's done so on this board.

So yeah, when someone acts like an ass I'm going to let them know. Hopefully Michael will realize what he's doing and knock it off, or if not the the mods will step in, but noone should have to put up with being insulted for stating their opinion.

You know that.

be a better man and turn the cheek

also look in the mirror and see what you are contributing rather than pointing the finger and feeling slighted

don't expect the mods to do what you should be doing yourself

not that I see a pattern here

oh yeah . . . to stay on topic way to go Z!!!!!

Other players play pickup games and run over the summer.

So yes, you're correct that's not the same as running up and down the court - but everyone in the league is in the same boat!!! Z is always farther behind the curve due to lack of being able to play any sort of ball. It's great he has a wonderful conditioning program and he hasn't had serious health problems this year, but to get him where he is right now his minutes still had to be cut pretty darn low. 2MPG less than last year, and 6MPG less than the year before.

Inspite of the new offense, Z had open looks. He had isolations on the block. Too often he was unable to execute, and even when they'd force feed him and get him going in the first half ... he'd fade in the second half and as you might recall end up sitting on the bench in the 4th.

He's really come on strong the past few weeks this season and turned all of that around. Mike Brown isn't making his shots go in. Coach isn't running out to the 3pt line and showing on D. Brown isn't the one finding the lift to actually dunk balls. Z is doing it. Z is getting it done.

There's no need. There are decent mods here who have a clue how to run a board and one way or another if I become a problem or Michael becomes a problem they'll take care of it. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and Michael will realize what he's doing and knock it off.
