Zack Grienke Available?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The fuck are those clowns talking about ?Those aint Yankee fans....

Um, you go out there and get the best player you can possibly get at every position... If you have the means to do so and nobody else is willing, you do it... Fuck the owners that cry and won't spend money on their payroll...It's not the Yankees fault that they invest back into their team when everyone else is looking at the 'to-date' earnings...

You can't handle it then sell the team...

I would have loved to have had Lee on the Yankees this year... (Hopefully next year w/ a side order of Carl Crawford)

Haha.

Is this seriously what you have tried to convince yourself is the case.

Is there like a Yankee fan memo for this crap or what?

Yankees fans just don't understand. They really believe it's all fair. It's pretty sad.

No. People blame the Yankees when it's the system that is the problem...

The Yankees have money, they spend it on the best players they can get in order to win championships.... It's allowed under the rules... If they were breaking rules it would be another issue...

People with money buy things that people without money can't buy... It's life... Survival of the fittest...:chuckles:

I don't blame the Yankees, RedSox or anytime for spending money. If the Tribe could go out and do it, we would and us fans would be excited about it. If you got money to spend like the Yankees and Sox, why wouldn't you spend it and put the best team possible on the field? Saying that you wouldn't, is flat out lying. What it boils down to basically is that us Tribe fans are flat out jealous of the Yankees spending abilities.

Do I like that the Yankees always get the top talent and buy their way to World Series win after World Series win? Of course not.

But it's most certainly not their fault.

I hate them as much as the next Tribe fan, believe me, but it's the system that's broken. The Yankees aren't doing anything against the rules here, as much as it pains me to say it.

I don;t blame the Yankees at all. The system is broken and they take advantage of it to win. It's definitely not their fault.

I do take issue with people who think the Yankees are some great franchise over the last 10-15 years. You know the guy that turns on "Force CPU trades" on MLB The Show, makes trades like Hafner for Pujols, wins the World Series, then brags about how great they are at the game? That's the Yankees.

Is baseball ever expected to create a salary cap?

I'm not up to date on baseball these days.

I don't mean to sound like a frontrunner but I'm only interested in baseball when the Indians are good. I lost it when the team that was one win away from a waltz in the World Series was torn apart over the next 3 years. I can name you all the starters on that 2007 team and there are probably 3-4 significant players from that team still here. Nothing is more boring than a bad baseball team that fills up 1/10 of their stadium through the weekdays. Don't get me wrong, an exciting baseball team is extremely fun to watch. Probably my favorite Cleveland memory (that I attended) of the 2000s onward was the infamous Bug Game in 2007 against the Yankees which topped Game 2 vs Orlando when LeBiotch hit the game winner. Awesome ending to the basketball game but the rest was stressful as we all knew that 22 point lead was dwindling.

Sorry for the rant, just want to know if baseball has any plans to create a salary cap.

Pretty much. Why blame the Yankees? They didn't make the system, they just take advantage of it.

You guys know full well the Tribe would do it and you'd love it if the situation was reversed. FIX THE SYSTEM, Selig/MLB.

According to Bud Selig, competitive balance in baseball is as good as it's ever been.

Pretty much what everyone else said.

The Yankees are not the problem. Allen Selig and the MLBPA is.

That being said, I've been thinking that now would be a good time for this team to make a big trade for an ACE that is signed into the future. We are on the way up, have several good prospects and perhaps might be able to get an Ace in a salary dump.

If the Dolans want to see increased revenue, now would be a perfect time to take a chance. Very unlikely to happen, but IMO, they should be looking into it.

I don't see it happening either, but Grienke would be a PERFECT ace for the Tribe. An ace, still young, locked up a few more years, and a guy who hates the spotlight - perfect for Cleveland. I'd give up A LOT to get him, and think he could turn this team into a serious contender next season.

From the sounds of it, it would appear he would be the perfect ace for the Royals.

The Indians could have a nice young 1-2 punch if they were to attempt to acquire Grienke. But it'll never hapen.. It's a shame baseball is this way

The speculation is over...the Royals have now said that they are taking offers on Grienke this offseason.

A few things to consider:

1) He signed a 4 year, $38 M extension in 2008 with the Royals instead of waiting for a bigger payday.

2) He's locked up for 2 more seasons.

3) He has social anxiety disorder, a condition marked by tension in social settings. This could mean he'd be more comfortable in a mid/low market setting. Especially when you look at #4.

4) He said this after signing with KC:

“[The environment] had a lot to do with [signing the extension], for sure,” said Greinke. “Now, maybe New York would bother me, but I don’t think anywhere else would bother me anymore. Even though I’m in Kansas City, I’ve gotten used to it a lot more. New York, I still might have trouble in New York. I probably would. But I think almost everyone does.”

He certainly pointed New York out, didn't he? And if he doesn't want to go there, would Boston, Los Angeles, or any other big city be any different?

Most won't agree with me, but I think three things.

1) With a deep minor league system, the Indians could get Grienke.

2) Grienke could push this team to be a contender much sooner than expected.

...and the big one...

3) The Indians could and would sign Grienke to an extension to keep him here long term

I wouldn't mind him, just wondering what they would want for him.
