Z's future with this team

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The baseline 3 point shooting is the final straw... The guy haunts me like no other..

His 1 three point attempt per game in the postseason is the final straw? :chuckles: Keep in mind that he isn't running out to the baseline to shoot 3's on his own...Mike Brown/Kuester want him there on that play. Going back to that play 3 times in the second half in game 3 wasnt his idea, he's just following orders....so blame the coaches. They should have been doing the pick & pop that has worked all year. Regardless, his 6 three attempts in this series are irrelevant to the fact we are down 3-2.

I'm sure this is irrelevant as well, but the guy that haunts you continues to have the best +/- numbers by a large margin. We have consistantly played better with him on the floor than any other player.

What amazes me is that a few days ago you said this -

Seriously, the Mo Williams bashing is just ridiculous... Some of the stuff that was in that game thread was uncalled for and just stupid...

The guy has been there for the Cavs all season, and has busted his ass in both games, trying to do little things to help the team in any way possible... He's not forcing things in a selfish manner like Hughes used to do... He knows this team needs his scoring, and he's simply missing wide open shots and is trying to get some buckets to go down to help the squad... At no point have I thought Mo's play was selfish in any of these games..

I have no issues with Mo because you can tell he's giving it everything he's got, but the results aren't there.... That emotion he showed after the game shows just how much he cares...

Mo got this pansy ass sympathy post from you when he was completely underperforming and was probably the biggest factor in us losing game 1. If that was Z you would have been relentlessly verbally sodomizing him on this board. Z is avaraging a double-double and is matched up against the DPOY who is the most athletic physical freak in the NBA(not named Lebron). Until last night, our All-Star PG has shot like garbage against Orlando's backup pg. Yet, Z haunts you? Talk about "uncalled for and stupid"...

This thread was made during the ECF, against a team that Z downright struggles against. How many teams have players like Dwight Howard for Z to guard? If we are ever so fortunate enough to actually win this series, he'll likely be guarding Pau Gasol in the Finals which he'd do much better at. But instead, you see him against Dwight, and while I agree he's a liability in this series, you think that's how Z is all the time and we suffer with his presence on this team.

That's not something you put on Z, that's something you put on the head coach. If Mike Brown had the guts to change his starters up and put Big Ben on Dwight, I doubt this thread even gets made. Not that Ben does a superb job on Dwight, but he has the strength to at least deal with him. Regardless though, you can't blame Z for having a hard time dealing with Dwight - the kid is a freak of nature, a young Shaq, that's going to make Z look simply bad trying to defend him. But I wouldn't demand Z retire or get traded immediately after this, because it's one of the few players that he has serious problems with and the rest of the time I love our big man.

You make this thread at another time and see how it rolls over. Right now, you're banking on the bad coaching decision of leaving Z in there to deal with one of the few players he simply cannot guard.

Z is getting back into the rythm of the game now as well as his fellow teammates and I think he has done a commendable job. I certainly never expected him to be able to thwart Dwight's attempts at the basket. He's not a banger inside but he gets you with his length and unfortunately Dwights size and athletisim negate that advantage. That said, on the offensive side, if he is draining jumpers and hitting FT's, what more could you ask? Last night he was 6-8 from the field and hit 4 of 5 from the stripe, very crucial points, 2 of 2 in the last minute of the game. He showed you several shots from 18+ , a drive to the basket dunk, the hook shot. He is a big part of why we won last night.

Its funny people think Ben is playing well in this series and Z is stinking it up. Z has not been a problem at all in this series. Our team not hitting jump shots and turnovers have been the difference in this series.

Come on, who didn't get pumped up when Z tried to get in Dwight's face after another elbow. That was awesome. Big guy was pi$$ed. Loved it.

I don't think Ben is playing all that well I only said he is able to body Howard better..
But the reality is Z could probably have even more production if he is put on the low block more.

If we had a true banger down low (IE David Lee, Bosh) that commanded some respect from the other team, Z would be a superstar.

We did, Carlos Boozer. But someone F'd that deal all up! :chuckles:

Are we talking about the same David Lee?

Because, the one I know does nothing but finishing offensive rebounds and lobs. He has no post game whatsoever.

IMO, someone like Al Jefferson would make Z look like a superstar. Get off your hands Ferry! :chuckles:

I like Z, I'd hate to see him traded, but if he's the piece it takes to get us a good, young big, I'm pulling the trigger.

Otherwise, I'd love to see us get a good PF, resign Andy and start him at center, and bring Z off the bench for 15-20 min a night.

I would love to see a future front line of Chris Bosh at PF and Andy at C.
