2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If Watson is the first QB off the board and he goes to Cleveland, I'm going to be incredibly disappointed. Probably the 4th QB on my personal "big board" that I set because I'm an expert. Trust me. :chuckle:
I bet it's YUGE

If the under 50 mph thing is legit, I don't think analytics-based thought process would allow us to take him (especially early) with other impact players on the board.

It depends on how high they weight the MPH to be honest. If they see it as minimal or irrelevant then they probably look passed it.

I wish I could find the chart, but there's one showing there's not a huge correlation between the speed at which you can throw a ball and how good you'll be. There is, however, a correlation between failure in the NFL and throwing less than 55 MPH.

It seems logical to extrapolate that a stronger throw will allow the QB to go from read to the time the ball gets to the receiver quicker than guys who have a weaker arm. Leads me to believe that the Browns will consider this particular metric when assessing a QB's chance to succeed in the NFL/Hue's offense.

But the correlation is in late 2nd onward prospects, people who you'd assume to fail, because major prospects usually don't throw.

On the list of people, I can't remember a top 3 QB throwing less than 55.

I trust @Soda eyes and gut when it comes to these things

I'd care more about the ball velocity if we had numbers for all of the QB's from past combines. So many don't have numbers that I just don't care as much.

I think Locker and Ponder were both on the list, they were both 1st rounders.

Take Peppers with Obi still on the board?

No way, need Obi with the 33rd pick.

I'm with you there. Garrett is a no brainer and I really like Awuzie at 52, but I'd go different routes at 12 and 33.

1. Garrett
12. Howard
33. Melifonwu
52. Awuzie

That's four potential starters right out of the gate. Much needed athleticism in the secondary.

I get the OJ Howard pick, but earlish first TE scares me, but if I am Ok with Mike Williams at 12, not sure why OJ would scare me. Arguably OJ would line up at WR just as much as te.

Mike Williams can be a heck of a threat at 6'4 220. However, he ran the exact same 40 time as Howard, who is a 6'6 250 elite blocker as well. I take Howard over Williams 10 times out of 10.

Its crazy, Jimmy graham ran a 4.56, the OJ howard 40 time of 4.51 is up there for all time fast TE's. Not Vernon Davis fast, but Vernon never played up to his abilities which was a knock on him in college too.

I guess he would be the perfect weapon for Kessler, underneath routes or can lob a jump ball.

Vernon didn't really love all aspects of football. As a receiver, he was a mismatch nightmare when he was in his prime. Howard seems to love winning the point of attack in blocking as much as he loves catching a pass, which separates him from a few of these other tight ends.
