2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
TRADE WAS:

49ers receive: Jets’ first-round pick (No. 6), Jets’ second-round pick (No. 39)
Jets receive: 49ers’ first-round pick (No. 2), 49ers’ fourth-round (No. 143)
lol. Yeah I'm sure that would be enough to trade up for the first pick at a QB:rolleyes:

Now you can say in hindsight this is nothing like Weeden, and I'd agree stylistically. They aren't similar QBs. But they definitely had similar arms. Mahommes at 12 goes 1 of 2 ways and I think it's way too likely it goes the way where in 5 years we say "I can't believe we fell in love with another huge arm in such a loaded draft!"

This clip is so good. I think it's the sole reason Sports Science is no longer a thing.

Got a second round grade from the draft advisory committee who is notoriously pessimistic and stingy about their grades.
I thought they graded way too high? I thought that was their probelm is way too many college guys trust them then those guys end up falling that said.

Why not just trade down to the low 20s and get him there. I mean the argument you should take a guy 12th with a second round grade seems like you are forcing it, especially with a qb who needs a huge amount of work. I hate bashing the big 12 because im an oklahoma fan but can anyone name a big 12 quarterback that actually worked out. Other than bradford?

A few reasons to possibly pick Mahomes at 12.

1. The top tier talent (the players definitively better than Mahomes) might all be gone by 12.
2. Mahomes himself may not be there at 33.
3. Teams in the 20s might not want to trade up to 12. Takes two to tango.
4. If you really like a guy and think he can be a quality starter, *especially* a QB, there's no such thing as drafting him 10-15 spots too early. We're not talking two rounds (65+ picks) too early.

As far as the Big 12 thing, I've never liked that argument because each player is his own prospect and succeeds or fails based on his own merits.

Mahomes has more physical gifts than most (all?) of the recent Big 12 failures.

No.

I missed where that set his stock aflame.

Is there a reason that it should not have? Selfish player with selfish tendencies. No doubt he is talented, but no chance Id take him at 12.

Yes, because all great players have a tendency to freelance.

His Notre Dame tape is evidence of why he could be so dominant and will almost certainly be taken by someone in the middle of the first.

He's incredibly gifted.

Oops, wrong thread.

We need a ruling already, @@Soda

I had an offer from the Jets at 11:14am after a back and forth, I agreed. Jets wanted to announce during the draft. 12:49, he said he is going to open negotiations with other teams, basically pussing out of the agreement.

Emails are available for your review, commissioner Soda. Does @Triplethreat have to honor his agreement?

I'm not sure if you're looking for a different answer... :chuckle:

I think you have to let him hit the market. However, if he goes silent and comes weeping back to you for the offer he's currently shopping, I think you should rescind the offer for one that isn't as good. That's how we teach these fools to do what's right, right?

Every decent GM knows you don't make deals, then rescind them. But alas, we still have Mike Tannenbaum up there working for the Jets. :chuckle:

I bet picks 1-11 could hit 50 on the gun

If Watson is the first QB off the board and he goes to Cleveland, I'm going to be incredibly disappointed. Probably the 4th QB on my personal "big board" that I set because I'm an expert. Trust me. :chuckle:
