2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sure based on what? A hunch?

If you want to call it a hunch then so be it, but there is just no chance Lebron would take away the option of teaming up with other FAs like Kawhi and PG13. It would be insane for him to sign for more than a year.

Whether he wants to stay here or not, he will surely want to re-evaluate this options next year. Signing for more than a year takes away all his options.

If you have an opportunity to get Beverley, just do it. 1 year remaining on his contract $5M.

Unless he wants to retire here, and he's considering taking the supermax.

And you're wrong---it wouldn't be insane to commit long term if he wants to help the Cavs have a more sustainable approach to winning.

Maybe LeBron doesn't want to form a superteam somewhere else.

I'm not going to presume to know what someone like LeBron is thinking. There's too much of that going on.

Here's what we do know:
NOTHING.

I'd rather have Payton.

I would be willing to take a flyer on Payton depending how much we have to pay him and the situation with the rest of the roster.

Payton as our backup PG during a rebuild is better than giving minutes to a vet. He still has alot of upside. Maybe get a undrafted rookie in to compete with him.

If LeBron is back, I wouldn't mind him as our 3rd PG, depending on who else is available. We need someone that has the upside to step into being the backup if we move on from Hill. Ideally we would have someone with more experience and has played better but we need someone more athletic than Calderon and the PG free agent market is real thin this year.

PG who's a liability on offense? No thanks
If we're rebuilding then taking on a few projects to see if they pan out is a good idea. He's not a "liability" if we are tanking lol

Maybe... He might a nice tank commander. But the fact that 2 horrible teams (Phoenix, Orlando) didn't want anything to do with him is troubling.

I feel like the talent level of the Suns and Magic weren't at the level to utilize a pass first PG like Payton. He was tied for 13th in assist per game last season, averaging only 28 minutes a game. His per 36, was 7.8 assist per.

I think he is a guy that can make an impact on a good team as a backup PG vs a starter on a bad team. He needs guys knocking down shots to be effective because he isn't a scoring guard. It's similar to Rubio.

Again, if we are talking about LeBron still being here, then yes, I'd agree.

What is "troubling" about taking a flyer on an athletic young kid when we're tanking? There's no downside to it.

Lots of players need to play for 2 or 3 teams until it clicks for them.
