2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dwight Howard safari incoming

I really wonder what happened to that guy.

His 09 season still angers me because it blocked us from seeing a Kobe V. LeBron finals.

Imagine if he hadn't lost it? A non-head ass version of that guy with LeBron would be game over IMO.

Suns are going to renounce the rights to Elfrid Payton. I wouldn't mind him as our backup point guard of the future. I think he would be a good compliment to Sexton. Payton is more of a pass first PG.

I fucking love Payton's game. Wow.

Not a huge fan of Payton. He can drive the lane and finish at the rim. He has gotten better with his shot, but he's still far from good. This is a PG that averages 63% from the FT line. The thought originally was that he'd be a great defender, but that hasn't panned out. He was terrible on D last season. His NET rating was -11.5. That's worse than what Clarkson's was in the playoffs, but Clarkson was only a -0.8 NET last year.

So Elfrid Payton is worse than Clarkson.

I would guess right now the plan is to try to get Clarkson to play more off the ball at the 2. Currently it is Hill and Sexton at the 1. Reportedly Lue will be working with the guys in Vegas and Clarkson is also going to be there and will work with Lue. That's voluntary on Clarkson's part, so he is going to work, but I'm guessing the Cavs want to see if he can work to adapt to a different role. We're likely looking for a Jose Calderon type role as the emergency PG - though we'll see what happens with Hill. They could just bring Calderon back at the minimum. I'd be down with that.

I think we need a plan to replace Hill going forward since he is on such a large expiring. Looking at the free agent market for PGs it's pretty thin. Payton might be one we can bring in for cheap. He is young and has improved in areas, I would take a bet on him.

I don't want to see Clarkson run the offense any longer, if we can get him to play well as a SG that's a plus but I don't think we should be trying to play him at PG any longer. Maybe we will find a undrafted rookie to be our backup PG. Koby seems to be trying to fill out our summer league team with players with real potential. This seem much different than past years where it seemed like a squad full of Canton charge guys.

I'm interested in helping out Atlanta and taking on Bazemore and bring a pick and Dedmon (My guess is Hill is out, not sure what else would go). I'm really interested in Patrick Beverly and last year the Clippers were interested in Tristan and makes DeAndre Jordan even more expendable for them.

Beverly Sexton Clarkson
Bazemore Hood Korver
James Cedi (subs everywhere)
Love
Dedmon Nance Zizic

I think this could be realistic moves. Maybe sign a guy like Rudy Gay. Look for a star near the deadline to put us over the top.

So I read this as Hill for Bazemore, dedmon and a pick and TT for Beverly .... Hmmm

Payton has gotten worse on defense. No thanks. There are other guys you can take fliers on. Some are other rookies. The 76ers have 15 guys already with all their contracts and draft picks. Would not be surprised to see Cavs get rights to one of those guys for cash or do a trade for a guy like McConnell.

It would be great if we could pull off a big deal without sacrificing Love or Sexton. This deal works salary wise and might be realistic for all parties. There might need to be some picks moved around but below are the main assets.

Cavs trade JR, TT, Clarkson, Cedi and receive CJ McCollum and Chandler Parsons.

Memphis trades Marc Gasol and Chandler Parsons and receive TT, Clarkson and Evan Turner.

Blazers trade McCollum and Evan Turner and receive Marc Gasol, Cedi and JR Smith.

I think Memphis considers this because they rid themselves of Parsons contract (which they are actively trying to do), and get much younger with TT, Clarkson and Turner. They have to sacrafic Gasol to move Parsons contract, but that coupled with the young assets they get in return is worth it.

I think the Blazers consider this deal because it balances their roster by bringing in an all-star center that contributes on both ends of the floor. They also can plug JR into their SG hole and they add a young and promising Cedi. I think this deal makes them better.

We can them immediately buy out Parsons to free up money and make a run at Cousins.

Starters: Hill, McCollum, LBJ, Love, Cousins

Bench: Sexton, Hood, Korver, Green, Nance, Anti Z

That’s a fully rebuilt team that can beat the warriors with only 1 trade and one signing.

How does this trade work at all for Cousins? He is going to get a max deal regardless (IE Dallas). Even moving all those contracts, by adding Parsons, he will still count against the cap for a certain amount regardless. And with CJ, if LeBron opts in, would the Cavs even have the money to offer anything near a max?

Cavs cannot take on a S&T player due to their cap situation. You get hard capped when that happens. Cousins is not coming to the Cavs in a trade. Buying our Parsons won't create cap space - not much. Just not realistic to get him.

That isn’t the worst trade idea. And it would make Portland a very interesting team out west....

I think if the Cavs offered George hill instead of JR the blazers may bite....

A George hill and lillard back court would fit a hell of a lot nicer than crappy JR Smith.

I wonder if the regression of Hood after he came here resulted to the non renewal of the contract of Phil Handy... I heard they tried to tweak his shooting form and it looked like it was counter productive, Hoods shooting took a nose divr after arriving to the Cavs... I can omly wish that Longo is next to be let go (and Lue resigns, lol)

I’d say that with a combination of going from a ball movement offense to Lebron iso ball
