2019 Cavs

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No one is saying he's a perfect owner. But dude owns a team in a mid tier market and has spent more then the big markets. Name one other owner of a mid market team in any sport that spends like Dan? Well he has goofed a few times blaming every bad draft pick on him is a mistake.

He also does listen to his basketball people from time to time. He wanted Derrick Williams but listened when told Kyrie was the pick. Dion was Byron Scotts pick everyone knows it. Bennett was Mike Browns pick. Only pick I remember being solely Dan Gilbert was Tristan Thompson. Thompson may suck and be overpaid but he was a solid contributor the year we won the championship.

Aside from his big mouth and his short leashes with GMs he's been a rather solid owner. I also think his big mouth is the reason every bad decision gets blamed on him and not the front office. He's by no means perfect and he has made mistakes but he's also done a lot of good.
No other mid-market owner has a LeBron James on their team though. I'd imagine that an owner is more willing to spend when he knows he has an almost guaranteed ticket to the Finals every year.

With that said, he absolutely deserve credit for his willingness to spend like crazy. It's nice knowing that money won't be the reason why the team doesn't win. I just wish he wouldn't meddle so much in front office decisions.

Some moves need to happen. There's not much of a pitch you can make to LeBron with this current roster.

people need to realize that free agency has not even started yet. Just because we did not make a trade last night does not mean we will not. No guarantee Sexton ever sees a cavalier uniform

June 29, James will opt out and the dominoes will start falling.
My hope is we dont trade sexton, cedi, zizic, nance or any of our youth to keep LBJ here for one more year. I really do not see what they can add to beat GS or maybe even Boston. Leonard alone is not enough and there will be enough assets after we acquire leonard left to make a big splash.

Rather see we do a sign and trade and move lebron to where he wants to go. Give him his max money...he deserves it and hopefully get a young player or pick(s) bad

I know most here do not agree with me and that is ok but that is my thought

Dan Gilbert never would have come close to sniffing a championship banner if LeBron wasn't born in Akron, Ohio. That's great that he's willing to spend, seriously. But he also has a bunch of negative qualities as an owner.

There is no owner alive that would have sniffed a championship in cleveland if lebron wasnt born in akron

He spent with LBJ was gone too. He bought picks took a chance on Bynum. He's far from perfect but the hate for him is crazy. I also think his meddling with the FO is overstated because of his personality. People say Gilbert does but U don't buy it. If Gilbert meddled as much as they say we would have had Derrick Williams. Also likely wouldn't have had Waiters and Bennett. He listens to his coaches and FO people despite what people say. His quick triggers and odd hires in the FO is odd though.

If LeBron is back there is no way we keep the same roster. I think JR, Hill, and Korver are swapped out. Clear the way for both Cedi and Hood to get solid minutes and for one of them to start.

Clarkson is worthless to the team and even more so with Sexton on the team.

I would try to get Dedmon with either Schroeder or Bazemore from Atlanta. I also don't think Kemba is off the table, the Hornets just have way too many bad contract that they will be sellers at some point.

I would try to find a way to get Beverley. The Clippers have way too many PGs at the moment. I'd offer Korver for Beverley.

OKC had 3 future MVP’s and didn’t want to pay Harden $15 mil. That’s about as close to a guaranteed ticket to the finals every year even with Golden State rising. Not every owner is willing to do what Dan does money wise.

If Lebron comes back to play with this team the way its constructed now he's an idiot. Also, he's not an idiot

All I know, it's still sad to think about the possibility of going into another season with the worst interior defense in the league again for the umpteenth time. Surely that has to be priority number 1 to LeBron on improving the roster for staying purposes, no?

The Cavs also got killed on the boards last year;

Agree with a lot of this. Do not want Schroeder. Understand he is nothing but cancer much like Howard. All in for Dedmon. Like Bazemore's intensity and defense but contract is a bit steep. Would go back to him if others can't be had. Would of course love Kemba but we sure could use Beverly's attitude. Another is Jonathan Simmons. Lebron tried to recruit him last year. All of the above except Bazemore have contracts under $10M.

Not to mention they would have only had 2 years of the luxury tax being a huge issue before the cap blew up.

İs there any chance to sign Jabari Parker? Dude can score and is actually better than Wiggins. Would love to see him here.
Will Milwaukee extend the tender offer for him?

There's going to be a lot of talent out there in the offseason, so could Parker take a hit because of that? Will someone use the full MLE on him if MIL doesn't keep him? If MIL doesn't keep him and if no one wants to use the full MLE, he may be able to be had for the taxpayer MLE. It will all depend on the market. And it will depend on Parker. Does LeBron want to play with him? If LeBron stays, will LeBron recruit him. If MIL does not give him the offer sheet, Parker can do whatever he wants. So he could choose to take the Cavs MLE over going to Orlando on the full MLE, for an example.
