Cleveland Browns 2018 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I did not wish Josh Gordon well after his trade to New England. My hopes having been repeatedly dashed, as well as his insufferable vendetta against my team had cured me of empathy or sympathy.
But gradually, after having moved on and tasting success (mediocrity?) with a team rapidly forging an identity of their own, I found myself actually enjoying the moments of brilliance with which Gordon would tease his new team.
I found, to my relief, that I could easily move on and accept that a change was necessary for both my team and its perennial recalcitrant mystery box.
With today's news I can now accept the epitaph that I have been resisting for almost a decade: Drafted by a football guy desperate to save his own skin; Retained as a zero-cost asset by several administrations who had no skin in the game; Finally given the chance to prove himself worthy under the very best circumstances; Failed.
At this point I numbly feel no regret for his career trajectory, yet I have one lingering doubt: could he have found his path to success had the Browns released him years ago? Could that have served as a timely wake-up call? How culpable are the monumentally incompetent former Browns administrations for abetting this protracted self-destructive cycle? (Conversely, how laudable is the current one for ending it?)
What now looms ahead for this young man is the proverbial rock-bottom, and I feel terrible about that. Josh, I pray to God that you will find your way. Peace.

My dad and my brother wanted to buy me tix for the game for christmas.

We're sort of struggling to find it.

I can remember finding tix for like 5 bucks at certain points and can remember just scoring random give-a-ways for the Panthers and Raiders games even when medicore (like 5, 4 win level)

WTF. We're not even going to the playoffs, and yet I can't find some reasonably priced tickets.

There really must be something going on here.

Not Browns related, but one of my friends who is a steeler fan shared a Steelers Facebook post from the team about Cam jordan talking about Ben

I clicked and one of the top comments was “who is Cam Jordan”

And within it was just a bunch of people saying “and how many rings does he have” whenever saints fans said he was a 4 time pro bowler

I really don’t think there’s a dumber fan base out there. I can’t fucking wait until Baker is sweeping that dumbass team. That fan base doesn’t deserve ANY of the success they’ve had

People really have forgot the stunts pulled by Josh leading up to the trade. You're only fooling yourself if you think he produces his NE numbers on the Browns this past season. He didn't even want to be on the team.

I hate the Steelers as much as the next guy, but dumb fans are in every fan-base.

Maybe someone has already answered this and I missed it or it’s in another thread, but does anybody know when the last time the Browns were 9 point favorite was?

Except for Milwaukee. And San Francisco. And Baltimore. They have better more educated reasonable fan bases. Even their drunken college teams.

I always see people making comments that some fan bases are ____ and ____. It’s dumb. It’s based on experiences they’re having on message boards or at games or at work or with their friends. It’s all anecdotal stupidity.

Fans are human beings. They all have people who act stupid when they’re drunk and get entitled when their teams are good and act angry when their teams are bad and defeated when their teams are bad for a long period of time. And all of them have many fans who don’t do any of those things and just act like whatever they act like outside of sports because they’re just going to sports for entertainment, not as the end all be all.

The whole _______ team fan as ______ specific stereotypical personality trait is dumb. And it often comes from people who will argue against stereotypes against black/white/hispanic people too which makes it all the more ridiculous.

While I agree with you...

.....Penn State fans are a bunch of retarded hill jacks.

I have a hard time hating teams as a whole in the NFL, including the Steelers. I think Ben is a piece of shit human being, but there are individual players on every team I like. For example, I do enjoy watching Ju Ju Shuster Smith and TJ Watt play. With so many players on each side, I can find someone on any team I enjoy watching play.

Now the NBA is a bit different because teams have much less players. I cant stand golden state except Klay Thompson who doesn't get his due. Just when I think I couldn't hate an athlete more than Draymond, Curry does something that makes me want to punch him in the face.

I hate pretty much every player on the Steelers.

Who do you like on the ravens?

I’ve always respected Terrell Suggs’ career.

I really don’t think that if the exact same situation happened for the Browns that one of the top comments would be “who is Cam Jordan”

I... don’t think all fan bases are created equally. A very large portion of the Steelers fan base has never been to Pittsburgh. Like a very large portion. For example the Steelers are huge on the island of fucking Oahu.

The Steelers and browns fan bases are very different. Yeah there are dumbass Browns fans, but it’s not even close to what Pittsburgh produces

Suggs

I had a love hate relationship with Ray Lewis when he played. I truly love football, and he is a phenomenal player and a complete piece of shit as a human.

Currently I sneak to watch them because of Lamar Jackson. I think Lamar can be successful in the NFL although I thought he needed 2 years of watching, but Flacco is just so bad.

I also think Flacco is vastly over rated and Ravens are the closes I come to hating a team, so when I watch Ravens, I do watch to see Flacco fail, as remember I do Love being right.

Suggs was also fun to watch with his motor. Like some plays with the Browns, I will rewind the play and watch Myles specifically, I did that with Terrell.

God, the way Hue practically salivated after every JG text he received in Hard Knocks. Pathetic.

Christmas came early when we got those two chucklefucks out of Cleveland.

Was 2007 against the 49ers. Wanna say we were 9.5 favorites
