Cleveland Indians 2018-2019 Offseason Outlook

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Frankie?

Quite the opposite, actually.

Little shocking when I heard it, but he most certainly wants to stay, just will come down to the $. Not going to give a "hometown discount" which I think is causing people to say he wants to move on.

Only one person on the team I've heard who wants to be elsewhere sooner than later, and it's not Frankie.

Interesting. The person I spoke to was pretty adamant about him wanting to go big market. Here's hoping he's wrong though :chuckle:

You're going to hear a lot of that chatter because a good chunk of the baseball world wants him in a big market...but that's not coming from him, that's coming from big market mouth pieces akin to what we see in the NBA, and we can thank the decline in attendance/ratings for that.

As for Bauer, it's not that he wants out. It's that he wants the most money he can possibly get. He's been blunt about that all summer, and it's been his mindset for years, not just the last few months.

Indians tried to do their typical early extension with him to buyout some arb years a few winters ago prior to him breaking out fully, but to his credit he bet on himself and in turn is in line to make a lot more money than he would have had he extended then. Risky move that most players who take time to progress don't make, but Bauer is cut from a different cloth, which is no secret.

Issue with taking on Bauer when we traded for him was he is his own entity. He's way different, which is why he was so intriguing as a prospect. But it also meant the odds of him sticking with the Indians past his original contract were near non-existent.

I wonder if Bauer regrets saying publicly that he plans on taking one year deals going forward. It’s dumb financially, but I feel like he’s stubborn enough to go through with it.

I may be wrong but I believe Bauer is referring to his arbitration years, as only signing one year deals....

Ottavino to the Yankees

3/27

Whew...that Pen...

Must be nice to be the Yankees and have:

$15 mil/yr in Aroldis Chapman
$13 mil/yr in Zach Britton
$9 mil/yr in Adam Ottavino
$7.1 mil/yr in Dellin Betances

$44.1 million tied up in their top four relievers.

As of right now (Bauer, Clev, Bieber still haven't went through arb or pre-arb), we have a TOTAL of a little less than $42 million tied up in ALL of our pitchers (Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar, Hand, etc.)

Fucking pricks.

They seriously made their bullpen an overkill. If they get any kind of quality starts, it's most likely a wrap. Their SP is still a weakness in my opinion, and maybe they fall off a cliff, but their amount of endless resources will just trade for the best target at the deadline.
