I am very Nervous about QB, dont like any options coming out so far to this point. Now i seem to be the worst guy when it comes to evaluating QB's, as i will admit I didnt like Wentz and if we go way back, I was a Leaf over Manning guy.

That said, we need to hit on a QB and now we need a left tackle. Hopefully Drango works out, but left tackle is not a pick that you go late on, might need to use the Houston pick on a tackle instead of a luxury position.

If Joe Thomas doesn't return then Bitonio will be our new LT and move Drango inside.

Also come on and hop on the Lamar Jackson bandwagon. We are still currently taking reservations. You have until 1/2/2018 to hop on. Registration is closed after the regular season finale. It may be reopened during the combine.

Part of me likes him, part of me sees only Michael Vick for both the good and the bad. I have watched 4 or 5 full games of his though. The kid has a gun and is legit fast.

And if Drango is moving inside, why didnt they do that last game?

Probably because Drango plays both positions and is the utility backup. It would've been Rod Johnson at LT but he's on IR. Bitonio has been in line to be Joe's replacement though.


Wouldn't you want prime Michael Vick right now? I would.

I was not a huge Vick fan. He was fun to watch but really made too many mistakes to be a consistent winner.

It's entirely possible they're not developing certain players but most of these guys just look absolutely shitty (e.g. Britt, Louis, Higgins, Dayes, Kizer, Coates, etc.).

Confused where people are seeing "flashes" from Higgins and Louis. These guys are absolute trash and can't even haul in a well-thrown ball.

Well, to be fair, no one thought we needed RB help this year, so drafting a RB seemed unnecessary given all of our other needs. However, Crowell has just drastically underperformed in a contract year, which was unexpected. I'm not sure if this is Hue's fault or if Crowell is to blame, but either way no one thought we needed to address the RB position in the 2017 draft.

And I think the real issue with the skill position players outside of RB is that these aren't positions where guys tend to come in and dominate in year one. WR typically has a two to three year development path. Year three is when these guys tend to break out. Prior to that, what you want to see is flashes of dominance.

Corey Coleman, for example, flashed in his second NFL game where he was an absolute beast. That showed me that, if he can stay healthy, he can be a team's top WR. He's not doing that consistently, but he's also only in his second year and has missed a lot of time due to injury. Do you know who else you could say that about? Josh Doctson, who I'm sure many here preferred to Coleman and has shown far less than Coleman through their first year and a half in the league. I still think Doctson is a fantastic prospect as well.

The same goes for TE. We've already seen that this front office has identified two quality TEs in the draft. They're not going to consistently put up numbers like Travis Kelce, though, because they're young. Njoku is a rookie and is already flashing abilities that lead me to believe he could be the best TE in the league in a couple of years. DeValve too has been good this year and should be a quality second TE for years.

Louis hasn't been amazing, but he was also a fourth round pick. I'd say the fact that he at least looks like an NFL-caliber WR is a good sign. He'll likely never be a top WR option, but he could easily be a WR3. Ideally, I see Louis as the guy benefiting from the coverage that Coleman, Njoku, and any other WR we draft draws.

But to say this front office hasn't added any offensive talent is false, I think. You just have to accept that it more often than not takes time for these guys to develop. The OBJs of the world that dominate in year one are the exception, not the rule. I think you also have to factor into these guys' development that our QB play has been terrible and we've constantly been changing who starts, which doesn't give anyone enough time to develop a rapport with anyone guy.

As far as Kizer and Kessler go, it's really hard to say how much of their issues are on Hue, as he has just been godawful this year as a coach.
 
The other reason Hue needs to go is because of running the ball. He's running for a gain of 1 on 1st and 2nd down with Crowell. This consistently setting the Browns up in 3rd and longs. That's horrendous for any team, let alone a rookie QB trying to learn how to orchestrate drives at the NFL level. He should be running some passes to the HB in the flat or to TEs over the middle of the field for some short yardage gains to set them up in 2nd and 5s or 3rd and 4 type situations.
