Koby Altman

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It would assuredly be worse overall than it is now. Plus we’d have to deal with potentially paying DeAndre a near max in the summer.

Windy also mentioned that DJ would have came here with an extension in place. No idea how much it would be.

Per windy, we could only do one of the trades plus Jordan. The same pieces would have been involved except a 2023 first round pick would have been sent to Minnesota to take on shump.

So either hood+hill and Jordan
Or
Clarkson+nance and Jordan

I also would add Im not confident Hood would have made his way here and Utah may not have been involved at all because Crowder might not have been able to be routed there. Hill was always in the bag but I think if we got DJ, we would have gotten him plus Hill and that’s it plus dealt a potentially very valuable 2023 pick which really would fuck up our draft pick flexibility for a long time because of the pick we also owe Atlanta

Chicks don’t dig the kiss-ass. They want that cocky douchebag.

Right now LeBron is eyeing Koby and he just can’t help himself.

Maybe it's just my early morning reading comprehension, but did you just call LeBron a "chick"? :chuckle:

Like the trades. LeBron has always had older veteran teams throughout his career. A younger more athletic team has been long overdue.
And that is something I have been talking about with a few others.
This team has had some young players and picks but traded them off to secure a veteran group around James.
However the huge negative is that all of them were on the downside (or with some, completely used up) of their careers.
This trade added that influx of young guys that are lengthy and athletic and the Cavs don't have to worry about trying to gain them in the draft..plus they have that valuable Nets pick to use.

Koby basically added FIVE guys, as Cedi wasn't see an ounce of PT before the deadline.

Jordan, Hill and Hood would have been a nice addition. Clarkson and Nance with Jordan would have left a logjam with Jordan, Nance and TT.

Ultimately how the trade worked out provided the most flexibility. Jordan would have been a nice piece but ultimately they became more athletic as a whole- and Clarkson provides a real nice spark off the bench.

I think behind the narrative for James coming back home, was playing with a younger team in Cleveland that was on the uptick: KI, TT, Waiters and soon to be Love all 26 and under at that time (and James knew Love was in the cards and Wiggins and Canadian Bacon weren't). So there is a post 30 James surrounded by pre-27 year old core.

Dion didn't fit though and KI eventually wanted out and of course, the perfect storm of Durant's free agency, Golden State's rise and the ballooning of the salary cap. It's not like the Cavs willingly traded away younger pieces for vets only. The young pieces were in place, but either didn't fit or no longer wanted to. Even the deal to get Smith was about getting then 24 year old Iman Shumpert (ironic that Shump was the jewel and Smith the after thought, but thats what it was).

I don't know if I totally agree that the Cavs "...had some young players and picks but traded them off to secure a veteran group around James." Yeah, they traded picks and marginal young guys (Zeller? Dion? Joe Harris? Kay Felder?) but none of those guys mattered. Only after Irving demanded he be dealt did the Cavs really see an aged core rear it's ugly head.

None of the young guys other than Irving (and maybe Dion, but he's such a chucker that I can't take him seriously) were worth much anyway.

We shall see on this team. I'm excited to see them for the rest of the season. Something I couldn't say for IT, Wade, Rose and the rest of the crud that was on the roster (and demanding minutes). They still feel like even with Love they are missing the 1B player to go with James. I don't feel like that player is on the roster currently. (Cedi's ordained Hall of Fame induction considered) Like us out of the East but currently I think we only have a punchers chance in the finals.

That middle schooler we got for wade better be damn good.

I think it's obvious the Cavs didn't move Wade because they thought Hood and Clarkson crowded him out. They moved him because there were major behind the scenes issues that they felt were irreconcilable.

They signed Wade for games like tonight. Hoping he could defy time and dominate a few playoff games. To give up on that, something was seriously off.

Eh. There were a lot of people who said with the new players Wade had no role here. Check the Rodney Hood thread. I said this exact thing would happen in the playoffs and Wade is still a really good player when he needs to be

It was pitched as a role AND a locker room thing

GM of the year Koby? To me not at all .Daryl Morey should win this award as he has created a roster that can actually compete with GS. Koby did not. Dont get me wrong, he did well, but he basically exchanged Kyrie for roster depth and a backup plan (BKN Pick) if LBJ ditches us again. In the playoffs you need all stars AND depth so we are right where we were without a legit, clutch starting all star guard but with an inconsistent, perennial All star power forward as our 2nd option.
