Just when I think Black Mirror can't get any better, I watch season 4, episode 1. I see why people told @gourimoko (who needs to check his messages again) to watch that one. I just watched it last night and already want to watch it again.

Amazon has a new series - Electric Dreams - a sci-fi anthology series based on short stories by Phillip K Dick, who also wrote Blade Runner and Minority Report. I watched a couple of episodes, and so far it's like having more episodes of Black Mirror. I highly recommend it.

It looks like the series came out late last year, but 4 more episodes came out yesterday.

I just started today. My woman was watching the 1st episode of season 4....the one with the pig. These are all different stories? Think we are going to try to watch a few tonight if the football game gets carried away

    Pig one sucked.

It's like an hour an episode, super creative technology based. Episodes all a little terror inducing and trippy. You'll see.

Pig episode sucked. Most are awesome.

Finishing up season two of The Expanse tonight. The first season started off slow, and probably wasn't helped by the fact that I've read the books and basically knew what would happen, but damn this show gets really good later in season one and season two has been great all the way through.

They've actually taken some steps to improve upon the books by introducing some characters earlier like Avasarala and the other Earth-based characters, who don't show up until the second book, but are featured here in season one. They do a good job of showcasing the politics on Earth this way, which helps move the story along and paint a clearer picture of what's going on. The first book only had two viewpoint characters, Holden and Miller (each written by a different author, I believe, as the books are written by two different writers under one pen name), so it was pretty focused and didn't delve too deeply into everything else going on, such as the budding war between Earth and Mars.

I'd say anyone who likes sci-fi should take a look. Really looking forward to seeing how some of the later events from the books play out, because the books are fucking fantastic and have a lot of surprising twists and turns. I finished the latest book a couple of days ago and it continues that trend.

@gourimoko this seems like your kind of show.

Pig episode is more relevant now that 8t comes out that David Cameron did once toss off into a dead pig head when he was at university. Black mirror predicted the future in more ways than just Trumps win

Well, the books aren't done yet, although they're releasing a book a year and staying on pace, so they should finish up before the series ends, assuming it doesn't get canceled.

Basically they've covered the first two books in two seasons. The first book kind of bled into season two (everything that happens to Eros happens in the first book), but season two ends roughly where the second book does, at least as far as I can recall. They've made changes, of course, but nothing fundamental. They've also included a couple of novellas into the series. They showed Fred Johnson's backstory, which is covered in the novella The Butcher of Anderson Station, and they also did that episode that showed Solomon Epstein inventing the Epstein Drive, which is from the short story Drive. I assume they'll include one short story or novella a season given what they've done thus far. There are still three or four of them left I think.

Drive was such a great short story, by the way. Sad, too. Epstein invents this miraculous tech that will allow humanity to access the stars, but it ends up killing him because he can't shut the engine off. The best part of the story is near the end when he starts thinking of all the things his invention will allow that he'll never get to see.

I just finished watching the Leftovers. I didn't think the series finale fit with whole the rest of the show.

Watched what I thought was Season 1, Ep 1 of Black Mirror over the wknd....you guys reference the Pig episode...that was the ep when the PM was told to bang a pig....did we watch season 4, ep 1? Or does the pig make another appearance?

Is every episode unique in and of itself? Lot of positive comments in here, and the wife and I are looking for a show to start. Should we go with something else outside of Black Mirror?

that was season 1, episode 1. If I had it to do over, I'd just skip that one. You don't have to watch the show in any particular order, the episodes are all stand alone. It's well worth watching.

Watch season 3 (6 episodes). If you like that, go back and watch the rest of them.

Season 3, episode 2 is the one I had my kids start with.
