Board group think sure has taken some Ls this season calling Baker a bust, Barkley being overrated, Rosen being the Chosen one, Haley being the obvious choice in interim HC, and DeFilippo being the second coming over McVay. :chuckle::chuckle::chuckle:

Only a matter of time before McCarthy or Gregg named HC lol

Nobody has argued any of these things.

:chuckle::chuckle::chuckle:

So you saying a team player like Arians when he took over in Indy still gave credit to Pagano as he recovered. Further, because of age, he will want to come in here and start something special but actually groom his replacement instead of trying to undermine is entire staff.

Well, I think the vast majority of coaches/coordinators act professionally with respect to whatever ambitions they might have. So that would include Arians and just about every other candidate. But whatever was going on with Flip likely wouldn't sit well with Dorsey.

Don’t think it’s certain that Arians will get an interview at all. He may, but I don’t think it’s a guarantee whatsoever.

Gregggg will get one as a courtesy for managing the choppy waters from midseason, but that’s it.
I don’t even think it’s a given arians would take the interview

From everything I’ve read he’s said “the only job I’d come back for is Cleveland” not “I would come back for the Cleveland job”

It might be subtle, but those aren’t the same statements. Idk I’ve read it as Arians basically as “the only thing that would make me reconsider is the Cleveland job”

If there are quotes that contradict this let me know, but I don’t think arians is gung ho on coaching again. Just that if he did we would be the only one

Ehhh.

Pretty much any evaluation of Greggggg really boils down to whether or not you think takeaways are more luck/random or more skill based due to coaching.

If you think they’re more luck/random, then he hasn’t done a very good job at all.
Williams runs an ultra aggressive scheme on defense which puts pressure on opposing offenses while leaving holes that can be exploited by the right OC or QB who recognizes and counters GW's schemes.

I don't fault GW if he calls an aggressive blitz that succeeds in putting pressure on the QB, if the QB makes an excellent read and adjustment to beat it. GW does succeed in keeping the pressure on and sooner or later it usually pays off in terms of a sack, a TFL or a turnover. That is not random, it is the result of varied and sustained pressure.

It does piss me off when GW goes into a passive/prevent mode as it does with any coach who does that. Some of the gaping holes GW leaves in the middle of the field because he sold out somewhere else also pisses me off.

As far as the overall discipline and maturity factors, in my estimation GW has been excellent in those things. He has been excellent in his comments during pressers and he has given off an aura of confident steadiness.

These are good things that IMO at the very least puts him into ANY conversation about who is going to be the HC next year.

There was definitely not group think on wanting Haley to be interim HC. Most posters hated him, Hue, and Gregggggggggg the entire year

And there were some people that made a Flip/McVay connection, but at no point was he ever the majority of the board’s guy

And I don’t recall a single poster saying Baker was a bust. Plenty of us didn’t like the pick, but after the draft shock subdued most of us talked ourselves into him in our own ways and I can’t rememebr anyone calling him a bust

The group think was explicitly behind the realization that there isn't another McVey, but that this team needs an innovative offensive mind that would get the most out of Baker.

There was certainly no group think on Rosen as this hyperbolic "Chosen One," and nobody was higher on him than me. The board (myself included) had Barkley as a perennial 1,000 yard rusher with concerns about how efficient he is as a runner.

I mean, we can skip over the hyperbole at this point.

Yeah, I think the bulk of us just wanted Hue gone more than we wanted Haley gone even though they both sucked. No one was broken up when both of them were fired.

Gregg's defense seems to have performed well when he's had most of his key guys available. Defense has been much shakier when we've been missing guys, especially DB's.

Whatever it takes to keep kitchens. If that means keeping Gwill, fine. If that means Arians, fine. Just keep Kitchens.

Just make kitchens the HC. He’s given baker the best offense he could be in and kept him upright. He’s always been one of the most well liked guys in the league. I don’t care how long he’s been calling plays he obviously knows what he’s doing. We shouldn’t have to wait some arbitrary amount of time to make him a HC. He’s been in the league since 2006 it’s not like he just walked into an nfl locker room for the first time. We need to do everything we can do to help our franchise qb.

I like Kitchens a lot. I do not think he’s anywhere near ready to be a head coach. I have no loved how he has handled late game situations. Far too conservative for my liking. Baker has been money in all three wins and he’s mostly taken the ball out of his hands late.

Flip just got fired, not sure he’s as great as everyone is making him out to be.

Are we sure the conservative play late in games is his call or greggs? Gregg has spent his career playing prevent defense. I wouldn’t doubt that’s on him.
