Are we sure the conservative play late in games is his call or greggs? Gregg has spent his career playing prevent defense. I wouldn’t doubt that’s on him.

I don’t know if Gregg even has anything to do with the offense on game day.

I wouldn't see why not. Having his extensive background as DC, he can say "hey, this team's defense runs this package alot, such and such plays can really hurt that look"

I’m talking about when the game is actually being played. I doubt he’s overruling kitchens.

Right, but Kitchens probably calls plays based around Williams' game plan. If the game plan is to go conservative with a lead, then Kitchens will likely follow it. Williams may not be telling Kitchens what plays to run, but as the head coach it's his job to provide a general direction and game script as the game evolves during play.

Really warming up to Bruce Arians at HC with Freddie as OC...and an understanding that he could be groomed as the head coach in waiting for 2-3 years down the line.

And replace Gregg at DC.

Even though I'm not at all in love with the idea of hiring a 67-year-old to be the Browns next head coach, I am slightly warming up to the idea of a Bruce Arians HC, Freddie Kitchens OC and Todd Bowles DC combo.

No thanks to Bowles. Rather have pagano

Pagano is a 3-4 base coach who hasn't really had much success as a defensive coach since Ray Lewis was still playing. All the pieces are coming together for the Browns to have a very good 4-3 core. I'd rather keep Gregggg than switch to a 3-4.

If Bowles is fired from the Jets, he would be a great get at DC. I don't think he was ready to be a head coach, but he leads men.

I think the Jets problems are more personnel related than coaching. I'd love for Bowles to be our DC.

Isn’t Bowles a 3-4 guy too?

Bowles runs a 3-4 in New York and Arizona because that was the construction of the team when he got there, but had 4-3 experience previously. He has been known to run both schemes in a given season for a tactical advantage. Pagano is a guy who took over the Colts defense and started making roster changes to fit his scheme.
