The New York Knicks Trash Fire Thread!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oakley just announced a press conference is happening next week.

I guess Oakley hired a lawyer and his lawyer was on the radio and said he will see Dolan in court or something like that.

Oakley getting tossed the other night will be the closest thing to Knicks 90's basketball they'll ever get again.

Sadly, I feel bad for NY for once... What a mess that no fan should endure.

With no offense intended to our friendlies from NY,but after dealing w/ their public display of affection for LeBron pretty much the last 3-4 years we had him prior to leaving in '10, I developed a healthy despising for all things New York.

I don’t really hold that against them. Their franchise was in shambles for so long that 2010 summer and free agency was basically their only shot at becoming relevant as a franchise. It was a miracle shot, but it was something that so many people from NY had their hopes set on.

Ya, I dunno man, I don't sympathize w/ a fan base who was not only willing to re-build their franchise off the corpse of mine, but 3 years. The last 3 years all we heard about from the media was LeBron going to NY, from the fan base there so sure that's where he was going. Cheering him on when he played in MSG to make it feel like a home game, etc.

The only streak of happiness that came from LeBron leaving when he did was he didn't go to NY. Then to watch their fan reaction like they got spurned, too.

I get a fan base wanting to have a good team, but I can't forgive them wanting to build their new foundation off of our corpse. It'd be like excusing Baltimore for taking the Browns. Got no love for either of them.

Browns leaving Cleveland for Baltimore was nothing like LeBron leaving Cleveland for Miami. I know you did not mean it that way, but I would not even make a reference to compare them both.

No, I agree w/ you. I don't feel LeBron was the same as Modell, at all. You're right, that's not what I meant, I was referring to the receiving covetous fan base from both of those scenarios.

Am I the only one that sympathizes with Dolan banning Oakley?

I mean.. I know this might sound odd but.. If I were Oakley and I acted like that, they'd have my ass underneath the jail right now. Hell, I might have been tazed and shot... Oakley doesn't have the right to harass or menace Dolan. It doesn't matter who he is. And if Oakley was banned, then he shouldn't have been there to begin with.

And why would he buy tickets right behind Dolan?

I've read his comments about Dolan before, and they're strange, unnerving, and menacing. He's intimated he wanted to do harm to Dolan numerous times... So why show up at the Garden like a hero when the fucking owner doesn't feel comfortable with you near him?

And with all of this being said, he put his hands on security. How is that not being discussed? No one did anything to him; and he assaulted 3 grown men who were doing their jobs and being respectful about it as well. I admit I don't know what was being said, but those guys didn't look like they were being hostile, and it wasn't Oakley's place to attack guys just doing their jobs... He's a grown man, not a child - he should know better. Take Dolan to court! But to attack innocent security guards? That's disgusting...

I understand how people are saying this shouldn't be the situation that Oakley found himself in, but with that said, I honestly think Oakley brought this on himself... I'm sorry, but based on what I know thus far, I just can't get behind this.

New York is a dumpster fire but that doesn't mean that Oakley is anything other than what he's always been, on/off the court...a thug.

Oakley is a thug off the court?

I didn't know that.. Is that true (I admittedly don't know)?

From what I do know, I just think the guy might have some legit anger he's gotta deal with, and he's likely a "tough guy" by all accounts; but I don't wanna say he's a thug without knowing why.. A lot of people would take that the wrong way, especially in context.

Hell, I think my arrest record is quite a bit longer than his, FWIW.. :chuckle:

We should probably move this to one of the political threads.
